My favorite hotel in Waikiki. Historic, an oasis in the Waikiki crazy especially given the perpetual spring break frenzy next door at the Outrigger. service is fantastic, Mai Tai bar on the beach is the best bar on Waikiki beach. If only the beach and...More
Where kings and queens once walked, so did I. I had no idea how quiet and private and luxurious it could be in the heart of noisy Waikiki Beach. When is was time to leave all the activity and bustle outside the hotel, this was...More
The Royal Hawaiian on Waikiki is one of our favorite hotels with its old world charm exuding from the time you step foot on the front steps. From the welcoming lobby, to the hallways that make you feel like you are back in time to...More

As of Feb.1st 2018 the hotel concierge services has been outsourced. Although you will see people sitting at the hotel concierge desks they do not work for The Royal Hawaiian Hotel. They work for Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays and their job is to sell as many tours as they can-working on commission. They have little or no interest in actually helping guests with their needs (ie: dinner reservations, etc) Yes they are in hotel uniforms however, they are not the Royal Concierge that has always provided excellent guest service.
There were no bathrobes in our room and asking a few other repeat guests we've come to know around the pool there were none in their rooms .
Our lamp didn't work and the leg on our chest of drawers was broken.
Overall the hotel has declined, as I mentioned while we were eating a piece of plaster fell from the ceiling and it was still lying there the next day when we returned.
Without the concierge service I would not consider this a luxury collection hotel. To answer to the previous reviewer who questions the "credence of amateur reviews" The facts I gave before submitting my review )re: Concierge service being outsourced on 2/1/2018) at just that, facts- not subjective impressions.
