It all depends what you want from a hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were old but clean. Nice view of the marina. So, why average? The rooms were that - nothing great, but certainly not bad. The fitness center - well, not so much. I think the description was a bit misleading - suggesting there was...

I stayed here after a god awful night at the Sitka Hotel, do not stay at that place. The Totem took me in on short notice and had nice clean rooms. I appreciated the help, would recommend. If I remember correctly pretty decent coffee as well.

This hotel has a friendly and helpful staff, and is well located on the harbor, only a block from the main street in Sitka, and across the street from the Pioneer Bar. The rooms are clean, the decor standard motel - the facilities would cost $65-$120 in the lower 48, but in Alaska, it'll be over $200, depending on demand....

They charge full price for rooms, yet every time something was lacking, (breakfast, Kleenex, shampoo, etc) the reason given was "well it's the end of season". They did offer to sell me a $2.00 pack of travel tissue. Wow! Also just shrugged their shoulders when I told them there was no shower soap. Sign posted, breakfast 7-11am, but when guests...

This hotel was ok. When I drop $453.60 for a hotel room over two nights, it would be great if the hotel staff would thank me as I depart, but all I got was a 'you are all set' when they handed me the receipt. Overall, they weren't very friendly and could have been rated higher if they would have...

Expensive prices for an average room. Very noisy until closing time all three nights we were there. No facilities for breakfast eventhough they serve lunch and fastfood dinners. We were referred to the other Westmark in town for breakfast. It was five blocks away and a rainy walk. Next visit to Sitka would try another hotel or B & B.

Were were here two nights. We liked our room and the restaurant/bar (The Dock Shack) within it. The hotel overlooks the harbor and there is a lot of activity. We came in on the ferry. The hotel does not meet the ferry so we booked our pickup with Sitka Tours to get us to the hotel. We didn't realize the...

We stayed here one night before starting a cruise. The room was clean but overlooked a parking lot and a bar which got somewhat noisy in the evening - which was a little annoying for a jet-lagged traveler. Advertising a "complimentary breakfast" they mean "down the road at another hotel" which wasn't an option considering time constraints in the morning...

Two cousins and I shared one 2-bed room on the 4th floor of this hotel and had a good time. We liked the location, close to town and water with great views, and loved the shower with good water pressure -- a good change from all our other accommodations in 2 weeks! We were disappointed that the advertised "complimentary breakfast"...

While Sitka gets a lot of tourists, most are headed for fishing excursions. It seems having a higher end hotel isn't a big concern. Ive stayed at the Totum a few times. The past few months, there is an effort to improve which was needed. The rooms are adequate but sitting on chairs with stains on them is a bit...
