We ere there for two weeks over the 2021 holiday season. There was, and still is, a face mask mandate due to COVID forNew Mexico as ordered by the governor. It requires a face mask for all those 2 and up while in indoor public hotel areas except guest room and while eating or drinking. While the staff wore masks they allowed guests to not wear masks through out the public area of the hotel during the whole time we were there, irregardless of COVID vaccination status. We approached many staff who agreed that there is a mask mandate that the were told that by management that it was “unenforceable”. Guests were allowed to be maskless to go through the the communal breakfast and afternoon meals food stations. When we approached management he said there were signs about it. We explained there were NO mask signs anywhere in the hotel including the front desk, lobby, elevators, eating areas, or bathrooms. All there was was a sign at the valet entrance that “CDC and local COVID guidelines must be followed. We explained that people from areas outside of New Mexico might not been aware of local “guidelines” (actually a mandate!) unless the staff explained it or had mask signs on display. We were brushed off and he walked away We visited two other hotels in the city that had many signs stating that mask were required in all these areas. Guest were complying We arrived home to test positive for COVID and subsequently the family we were visiting were positive as well This was irresponsible of this property and it would seem they did not want to lose any guest revenue from those who do not comply because earning the maximum revenue it the only goal.

Hotel's Favourite
Excellent hotel in a great location. Well-furnished rooms (quality furniture and furnishings) and faultless staff who are well-trained and friendly. These characteristics are necessary to compete in Santa Fe, but nonetheless should not be taken for granted. Breakfast and “kickback” dinner are mass market carbohydrate saturations (in a buffet style, which seems inappropriate currently), but I did not eat them. Required valet parking is annoying and expensive, but the valet staff are very good and prompt. A good choice and a good bargain for the location.

The hotel is very nice and clean. Located just two blocks from the main plaza and with tons of good restaurants around. The common grounds are great, the fireplace was on and there is tons of art inside the building. The rooms are pretty good size, the bathrooms could be a tad bigger (especially around the toilet). Breakfast was OK, unfortunately always the same staples (eggs, pancakes, sausages, biscuits, same strawberry yogurt, etc). A very nice feature is that after 5:30 PM you can get three drinks and some food (meatballs, pasta Alfredo with chicken, chile..) for free… that was pretty nice as we were tired of skiing or walking around town and the kids didn’t want to go out again after taking a shower. There is a small gym and pool on the fifth floor, nice view of the mountains. The parking is not included, nice valet service…

The Drury in Santa Fe is unmatched as far as we concerned. We travelled with our 80lb dog the week after Thanksgiving and thought the location was fantastic. We were able to drive to a local hike and take evening walks around the plaza and Canyon Rd. to look at Christmas lights. The Drury staff was friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about where we should go to enjoy ourselves. The location is great if you don't mind walking a bit (1 block to Plaza and several blocks to the start of Canyon Rd.). One day we walked to a shopping area and restaurant beyond the Railyard area. The breakfast and dinner/cocktail time are very good and offer lots of choices. We think we saved money because we really only ate out once per day. The Drury may be a bit pricier than other choices, but we will stay again!!

I stayed at the Drury Plaza for four nights, and all in all, I'd say "meh". It was serviceable, but not a "treat yourself" experience. Our first night was in a King Bed Deluxe Room, which was noisy, due to some pipes in the wall (old building) and a noisy mini-fridge - we had to upgrade ourselves the second day to a suite after a sleepless night, which was quieter. If I knew we would have had to upgrade to a suite for a comfortable stay, I would have likely opted for a different hotel that felt a little more "boutique" for the price. The hotel was very large, with a large tour-group clientele during my stay. Great for budget-conscious family or retired travelers who would appreciate the affordability of the room rate with included food and drink at happy hour and breakfast. Here are the pros and cons of the hotel: Pros: - Very central location, walking distance to almost everything in central Santa Fe - Friendly staff, good service, inc. valet parking, front desk, bartender - Very clean - including the bathtub! - Free drinks at happy hour every day (but the accompanying food is a big con) Cons: - Bedding was subpar - Furnishings in-room felt relatively generic / institutional, not very "Santa Fe" - Toiletries and amenities in room, even suite, were lacking - no bathrobes in a suite? Toiletries / soap provided were low quality - Free food at happy hour and breakfast are terrible, high-school cafeteria quality - yikes! Smaller portions with higher quality would be much better

Response from Drury Hotels, Owner at Drury Plaza Hotel in Santa Fe
Responded 29 Nov 2021
We certainly appreciate your feedback and we are glad that you overall enjoyed their stay with us and that they took time to share your detailed assessment. Our hotel is the first new hotel in downtown since 2014 and we have some of the nicest and largest rooms as well as very large bathrooms. While we may not have all the luxury items that our 5 star hotel neighbors offer we do work to be a great value in a beautiful hotel, with large public spaces and well maintained grounds. We always want our guests to be happy and are glad that you stayed with us and it would be wonderful if you reached back out to me so that I can address the concerns that are listed. We are very grateful for each of our guests and look forward to serving your lodging needs in the future. Keith K. General Manager
