We stayed in the Salt Spring studio for three nights, coming in on the tail-end of a 'heat wave' in San Juan Island (I think it came close to 90 the day we arrived). I know the rest of the hotel and --for that matter -- most places on the island were a bit warm since AC is rarely needed... More

We traveled from Fate, TX. We stayed in the Lopez suite, 4 nights in July. Absolutely loved the room. Our bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on. Usually our back is killing us after one night. King-size, pollow-top. The fresh-baked scones, and sweet fruit was the best in the morning. I highly recommend this hotel and... More

This room is billed as a superior rooms built for romance, celebration and complete escape according to the hotel's own website. Right...!!! Read the fine print. It's 225 square feet. May be that's why it's billed as "romantic"...!! What's very "un-romantic" is the toilet in the Orcas room. It's in the former closet with limited ventilation. With the closet gone...where... More

Dear Ebrynnie, We are so sorry the Orca didn't meet your expectations. Even though we find the room cute as a button and very romantic, you are not alone in your opinion (read review and response below). We will definitely put our heads together and work on the description on our website. I'm wondering though why you booked the same... More

We thought we were going to be staying in a lovely room with micro and small fridge. The decor and clean interior appearance seemed great, but the room was a real shock. First you have got to get your luggage up the stairs. Then the room - no closet and no bathroom. It’s an all in one! When you shut... More

Dear LisaLee2, Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about your stay. I'm so sorry we didn't live up to your expectations. We had a wonderful one night stay at the Bird Rock Hotel. The staff was friendly and very helpful with activities in Friday Harbor. We had a peaceful night and enjoyed the continental breakfast. before heading out for whale watching. We stored our luggage with them and picked it up in time to board the ferry. They were very accommodating.... More

I stayed in two different rooms. Patos and Skip Jack. Both were perfect. Skip Jack is a little small but just perfect after flying from NY to Seattle and then sea plane to Friday Harbour. It's an all day trip and all I needed was a great bed. Skip Jack was perfect and there is a really nice shared terrace... More

A century-old hotel about 2 blocks out of town. Comfortable bed and excellent bath. Good TV with plenty of channels (DirecTV with HBO). While they warn about noise from neighbors, the internal noise is the problem... the plumbing is loud, and noise from the hall filters into the room. Our first morning, the breakfast food was almost all gone by... More

We loved staying at the Bird Rock Inn--great location, beautifully decorated, excellent staff! We stayed here for two nights after a 3-day kayaking trip with Outdoor Odysseys (see my review) and it was lovely to sleep in a big beautiful bed again. We had one of the rooms on the third floor with no bathroom, but for us it really... More

This hotel is a couple of blocks away from the hub, so it is a bit quieter. The decor is very modern and elegant. The person running it was so friendly. We selected the Bird Rock Hotel because it was only a block from our kayaking trip pickup location and ferry dock. The staff was pleasant. It was a little pricey at $200 a night for the Whidby room, but the amenities were very nice. The robes supplied were incredibly soft. The shampoos and lotions were locally made. We took advantage...
