The two-bedroom unit was spacious, with plenty of storage and excellent lighting. The seating was plentiful and comfortable. I especially liked that the junior suite also had a king-size bed and a couch/sitting area in addition to the mini-fridge and small kitchen. There was a stackable washer/dryer in the unit which we did use and it was very efficient, meaning it didn't take 3 hours to dry your clothes like some places. The appliances were modern and everything worked. The kitchen was well-stocked with all the essentials to cook at home. The TVs were all large, including the ones in the bedroom. Wi-Fi is not secure, but it was able to supply the internet for all our devices without an issue. Bathrooms were large and amenities were all supplied, including soap, shampoo and conditioner. The grounds were nicely kept with trails around groomed landscaping that made walking enjoyable. There were a lot of opportunities to participate in daily-planned activities, with some pay-to-make craft projects, and a pool with slides both outside and under a covered area that made it terrific for families that don't want all the sun. Had it been warmer, the lazy river section of the pool looked very relaxing. There's also a nice workout room, ping-pong, shuffleboard, tennis/pickleball/volleyball and horseshoes. Staff were friendly and offered suggestions for activities and dining recommendations when asked. They checked in occasionally to be sure we had everything we needed, otherwise we were left to enjoy our vacation the way we wanted. Best thing we loved about this resort was it was 18 minutes from the downtown area and much more relaxing in the wide-open hills, with a Walmart just down the road.

I wanted to write this review because I don’t think some of the other reviews did this place justice. I just came back from a long weekend where I met up with my adult brother and sister, we didn’t have any kids with us. We had a great time and thought the condo was really nice. The bed was very, very comfortable, and the condo was well stocked as far as having some basics like a little bit of coffee, paper towels, toilet paper, regular amenities like a hotel with shampoo and the resort grounds were nice. We hung out at the lazy river. The cabanas are first come first serve no extra charge it’s nice and shady and even though it was 97 in San Antone was very comfortable. We floated around the lazy river, it wasn’t too crowded. Everybody was spaced out with plenty of chairs in shady spots and room for everyone. The main pool area could’ve been a little crowded, but I think the lazy river section is the better option. We staked out a spot early and spent the whole day just relaxing. We didn’t come across any overbearing staff any unreasonable rules. No one was in inspecting our belongings to make sure we didn’t have food or alcohol or outside beverages, a very laid-back Atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place, Specially, for a short stay and I would definitely come back. I’ve stayed at the Hyatt Hill Country resort as well and would honestly say it’s a tough call of which one is the better option. I would say you could just save more money with the condo set up that you can provide your own food would be the definite pro of Wild Oaks Ranch.

My husband and I exchanged a week through Interval International for a two bedroom studio. We decided to extend our vacay beyond a week, so we booked directly through the resort for the extra days.. We arrived a day earlier and stayed in a studio. We then transferred into a new unit (2 bedroom) for one week. We then transferred again into a 1 bedroom for two days. The front desk was wonderful coordinating these moves, bringing our luggage to the new rooms and transferring our food out of the refrigerator into the new room as well. The rooms are modern, clean, comfortable and updated. The kitchen has everything that you need if you wish to cook. The weather was a bit damp all week, but we finally got to use the lazy river on the last day. It was so great and relaxing winding down in a tube and seeing all the nature. The pool is half indoors and half outdoors which is nice in inclement weather. We were off season so it was not crowded. JB’s, the onsite restaurant, had delicious burgers. You will need a car if you want to venture out to Riverwalk which is beautiful. It is about 20 minutes away. Also, to note you do pay a resort fee even if trading through Interval. We had a wonderful vacation, everyone was pleasant and went beyond. Shout out to the front desk and to Frances at the concierge who directed us to all the places to visit during Fiesta and where to eat on or near the Riverwalk.. .. she was so helpful. We had a great time talking to her the first night we arrived, and she explained the entire area to us. Thanks for a wonderful vacation Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch!

I’m not selling you a timeshare, so please continue to read below:
Studio rooms are a bit tired, we used Hyatt free night award to try out the Vacation Club brand. The furniture and cupboards of the kitchenette look worn and tired. The grounds are very well kept and pretty Texas hill country and the outdoor amenities including the water areas (pools hot tub and slides) are great for families. In cooler November weather the large and I mean large Windmill hot tub is a must use.
The bar and only restaurant is pretty *yawn* forgettable. Mixed drinks like pina coladas and margaritas will cost 20 bucks after tax and tip and they are not made with premium spirits. This is not a premium bar where you’ll find even mid shelf. Bartender was friendly. Didn’t try the food because reviews are rough and I can understand why.
Walls are thin in the lock off units (reminder these timeshare properties have lock off rooms they can sell as separate studio units). Doors of the lock off and the door to the unit are also very thin. The soundproofing is generally bad. You will hear lots of road noise and kids next door.
The balconies are quite private which is nice.
Arguably the worst part of this property is that they have so many nickel and dime items. The activities aside, you are going to have to pay your own way to go to the Hyatt Regency (paid parking) and there is no shuttle. This is mental, and should be fixed. The Regency is a 30 minute walk or five minute drive and has way more dining and beverage options. The network effects of bringing Vacation club business there would be massive if they just connect this. My parents own timeshare weeks in Arizona (dumb) but their Marriott graciously connects to the JW across the street via shuttle and it drives business. Hyatt needs to leverage the Regency like their competitors leverage their close hotels.
This needs to be fixed. We probably won’t return but maybe will try other Vacation club properties in the future in Arizona or Carmel etc.

This was our second time to this resort. We went both times to be with our grandchildren. The staff are amazing and friendly and try to help. When we arrived the lady at the desk showed us a map of where our room was located. We went to the wrong building. There are no numbers on the building until you get our of your car. We asked two different people who directed us to other wrong buildings. We asked some other housekeepers, and they could not speak English. The papers they gave us had a number to call from your room!!!! We could not find our room to call. It also had a number to text. We texted and even today 7 days later have not received a text back. Finally, another employee was able to show us to our room. The room is dated but it was nice enough. We rented the cabana for $150.00 for Monday, August 12th. We were not allowed to take any food or drinks down because they wanted to sell us their food and drinks. Not sure why we had a refrigerator if we could not bring food down. The name reserved was not our name - it was from the day before. The girl came down about two hours later and changed the names and spelled it wrong two times even though I was right there telling her how to spell it. We ordered two mixed drinks that were delivered - very little alcohol if any in the drinks and they were teeny tiny. The bill with tax and tip was over $42.00. For two drinks that is ridiculous. The pizzas we ordered for the toddlers were personal pan size and were $20.00 each. The food was ok but it was way, way overpriced. For the price that you pay to come to this resort it was not worth the $$. The lazy river is nice but not that nice. The employees are very nice but I can get that at a lot of places and have decent food that does not cost me a fortune. We had the same experience 3 years ago when we went with the first grandbaby. We will not be back.

We went to this resort about 10 years ago as part of a deal in exchange for sitting through a time share presentation and we enjoyed our experience at the resort. We had the offer to do this again and decided to take advantage of the deal. We saw a huge difference between how they have really let this place go over the past few years. First of all, the last time we went, we had access to the Hill Country Resort's pool and lazy river, which is far superior to the Wild Oak's pool and lazy river area. This time they informed us that this agreement is no longer in place and guests no longer have access to the other property's amenities. In addition, there were fewer activities than last time, such as no animal encounter at the kid's club, for example. Overall, the resort seems long in the tooth and not well-maintained. For example, this resort's pool has two water slides, but one was broken. In almost all of the hotel room hallways, the paint on the ground is scratched up, there are chips in the sidewalk and pool, and the sides of the hot tub have an accumulated buildup of a white substance on them. Also, the landscaping looks like it could use a lot of weeding and new plants. In our hotel room, we had to ask for a new fridge because ours wasn't working and the hotel room safe also wasn't working. There is no daily housekeeping service. Some of the details are lacking, such as the fact that they give you coffee filters that do not fit the the coffeemakers in your room, and they charge you for the coffee served in the lobby, which seems a bit on the tacky side. The rooms are paper thin and our neighbors (who, in all fairness were excessively noisy) kept us up most of the night. On the upside, the hotel was reasonably clean and the staff was very friendly and responsive. However, it seems as though this property has fallen on hard times. There are far better options in the area and we do not plan on returning again.

We recently enjoyed a week at Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch. The resort was good, with generously sized apartments, a good selection of amenities and activities, and attractive grounds.
The apartments are very well equipped and the standard of cleaning was high. Our apartment was a little dated, with some wear and tear. We were staying on the ground floor and suffered from insects coming in throughout our stay. Most of these were some form of woodlouse, though we did have some cockroaches. We requested that the apartment be regularly treated with spray, which it was (although some requests were not logged and required follow up), and that the insect strips were inspected. I assume that the strips were inspected, and if they were, would assume that all ground floor rooms will suffer from the same issue. By the end of our stay, we had accepted that this was part of the experience and allowed the insects to roam the apartment freely.
The resort had just switched wifi supplier and wifi reception was poor across much of the resort, including virtually no coverage in our apartment. We raised this and were told that the WiFi was working correctly in our apartment and that there was no other connection that we could use.
The hotel is clear that they take no responsibility for the safety of guests in and around the resort, including at the pools. It is still worth mentioning that the health and safety measures in place are very different to those we’ve experienced elsewhere. The water slides are fast and not monitored, and we witnessed a few collisions, with children going at the same time or not clearing the area quickly enough and getting crashed into. The lazy river isn’t monitored either, and we witnessed some reckless behaviour here too. Finally, the sauna and steam room are both located by the pool, with free access. Unlike most places, the guest has total control of the temperature and there is no auto shut off or emergency shut off. Personally, I’ve no issue with any of the above, it just means taking responsibility for your children to ensure their safety.
There are numerous free activities available at the resort, including football pool, volleyball, badminton, shuffleboard, giant games (chess, checkers, jenga, connect four), corn hole, table tennis and mini basketball. There is also a nature walk, lazy river and fire pits for making s’mores included. It is great that these are all included, but the maintenance of some of these amenities was poor (see pictures). If Hyatt were to invest a small amount in the repair and replacement of these, it would make a huge difference.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and feel that the 3 star rating for the resort is accurate.

Our second stay at this facility. We also stayed here in 2009, with no issues. The good…Excellent location and access to highways for looping the city and amusement parks. Live deer on the property! Desk staff and concierge were friendly. The not good…General maintenance issues were significant. Lazy River was closed, again, for maintenance. The limited menu restaurant closes at 5:00 pm. There was no menu or information about the restaurant, in the room r on the website. I don’t think they want you to eat there. We were assigned a 3rd floor unit. When we arrived, we were assured that there was an elevator. However, the elevator was inoperable for most of the week. No updates, even though I reached out, and was assured that I would be updated. No hot water in the shower. They are citing Covid protocols as the reason for no housekeeping. If you want bath towels, linens, etc., you have to ask for them. If you accumulate trash…the trash barrel is down 3 stories of stairs, in front of the building. Be prepared to make your own beds and clean your own unit. The unit was tired and showed wear. The mattress left me with back pain, every morning. Overall, it feels like a nice facility, with friendly front line staff, that is falling into disrepair, and the administration is not capable of keeping up with the demands, or has decided to allow the issues to continue. We would have chosen another place, if we had known these things. Administration would be wise to be proactive and transparent, to satisfy the needs of people who choose this facility for their vacation.

Was excited to find this family friendly vacation hotel that included lots of activities and a pool with two water slides which was original draw. Check in was easy and everyone was friendly and helpful. Our studio suite was underwhelming to say the least but the bed was really comfortable. We went to JB's Grill on site near the pool for a quick lunch after a long flight. We ordered 2 sandwiches and at the time we were the only guests. We ordered two drinks while we were waiting. The server came by twice to say our order would be ready soon. Within an hour the place was full and we still had no food. In the end she had forgotten to put in our order. Okay, not a good start but it happens. Next day, our three grandkids were coming over and we were going to take them to the pool. I called the desk and they said we could only have 4 wrist bands, we needed 5. I offered to pay additional but was told no. I talked to the manager and was told we were only allowed 4 wrist bands for our room. I called the kids and said we would make other plans. Before they arrived my husband and I walked down to the pool. Not only did we not see one person with a wristband I talked to one guest who had invited her sister and her family of 7. Needless to say, I brought the kids. Nobody was "checking" wristbands. There were lifeguards and security personnel roaming and nobody cared. We spent $160 on drinks and lunch so feel we covered the use of the pool. It was not busy, so I really don't know what the issue was. There are many activities for kids and families but due to the "wristband" issue we didn't do anything but still paid a $95 resort fee. I know what the remarks from management will be regarding wristbands but since it's not monitored its moot. I am sure many people will have a great time, but you only have one chance to make a first impression and this wasn't good enough for a second visit.

I have been a loyal Hyatt member for years. My partner and I as globalist have loyalty to the Hyatt brand and have high expectations of their properties. I must say that this property did not meet our expectations. The pros of this property are that the staff are very friendly. The front desk agents are super sweet and explained all the amenities of the property. This property reminds me of an apartment complex with an on-site restaurant, a golf course, several swimming pools, a kids area, and a lazy river. These amenities are very nice and are not found at most Hyatt properties. Another pro is that the rooms themselves look like apartments. From their studio to their one bedroom to their two bedroom, the units come with a kitchen, living area, bathroom and bedrooms. This does offer a huge living area and is perfect for families traveling with children. Another pro is there is plenty of activities to do for adults and children. The units themselves are very well equipped. The kitchens are fully stocked to make a home-cooked meals. The restrooms have all the proper toiletries and hygiene items that you can think of. The staff is quick to respond to any unique request and as stated, the rooms are very spacious. The cons of this property. This is a for lack of better words, a timeshare property, or vacation club property. So they will aggressively attempt to contact you and entice you to go on a tour of the property. They will offer hundred dollar restaurant credits and other incentives to hear their pitch. Once they get a hold of you they will talk to you for hours and attempt to sell you all kinds of timeshare/vacation packages. This can get annoying if you are in town on vacation for leisure and or business. If you can avoid them, then the experience is fairly pleasant. Overall I would recommend staying here as the rooms are very spacious, and the amenities are phenomenal. However, if you get roped into their sales pitch, be prepared to spend at least 2 to 3 hours listening to them. Of course, if you are looking for a timeshare, then this is a great place to go as they will reward you for your time, and the packages are not that bad if you’re into this sort of thing. One more important thing to note they do not recognize any Hyatt tier benefits. Another words you do not get complementary, bottled waters, complementary, early check-in‘s, complementary, late, checkouts, etc. Every person who stays at this property is given the same benefits. There is no recognition for your Hyatt world benefits.
