Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our family (wife, 30 yr old quadriplegic & blind son and myself) discovered this place a few years back and love it more every time we go. Immaculate grounds right next to the river. Rooms are a bit dated but are very clean, besides we're there to be outside, not sit in a room, right? WiFi is good, wife and son both streaming movies in the evenings. Free tea, popcorn, and most importantly, s'mores you can fix yourself at the fire pit, our son's favorite. He has really connected with the owner Cherokee, and he will come out to the fire pit and tell stories to our son. It's like visiting family, and we will continue to get away here when possible!

This is an older, dated motel-like property with hard beds, faded bedspreads, and dark rooms, but not my reason for writing a one star review. Here is the reason for the one star: like other reviewers have stated, the owner is unstable and aggressive. We were two 60-year-old women traveling together. On Sunday morning we returned from breakfast (and needed to be in the park by 9 am), he blocked the driveway to the one- way parking lot to the rooms with his giant SUV, and left the side doors open, and was nowhere in sight (we didn't know whose car it was). We waited about 5 minutes, assumed that some tourist unloaded and forgot about their car, and TAPPED the horn twice (did not honk, did not lay on the horn), and waited since we could not get into the parking lot. He came

Whether travelling with friends or by myself, Deer Crest provides the perfect setting for your stay in Estes Park. Located within 5 minutes to Rocky Mountain Park and 1 minute from downtown. You can hear the mesmerizing sounds of the river on the property, watch the elk that are frequent visitors from your door, observe the multiple birds and the beautifully landscaped grounds. The owners provide snacks like popcorn, S'mores fixings, great movies you can take to your room. It is so clean and comfortable. Deer Crest owners and employees do anything they can to make sure your visit is perfect, offering great suggestions on restaurants, events, shopping, etc. I always feel like I am staying with family, and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.

Great location-close to RMNP and Estes Park, owners were very pleasant and accommodating. They were very familiar with the area and provided wonderful recommendations. The fire pit with complimentary s’mores were awesome and the extras such as seating next to the river and visits from the hummingbirds were impressive. We would stay again if we return to the area!

My husband and I stayed at the Deer Crest Resort for 4 nights. What an amazing resort! The owners and staff take great care of the property, from the beautiful flowers to the cleanliness of the room. We stayed in the Bear Den Suite, and it was perfect. This is a huge room with lots of space (like a small apartment) that includes a kitchen area with a full size fridge, microwave and two burner stove top. This suite was perfect for us, as it allowed my early rising husband to be up without disturbing me while sleeping in a bit, that's how much room we had! The suite was also so clean, including the floors, just great attention to detail by the housekeeping staff. This resort is right on Fall River, so evenings sitting outside and watching the many hummingbirds is a must.

Adult only resort was so nice and peaceful on Fall River. Older building but had everything we needed. The lawn’s grass was so plush that I walked barefoot because it felt so good. Only 1 mile from town and 3 miles to the Fall River entrance. Will definitely stay there again.

Not that I don’t LOVE kids, but this time it was just us. Deer Crest is right on the Falls River on the road (4 miles out) approaching Rocky Mountain National Park. Outside the Estes Park “scene” and extremely picturesque. Rooms are clean and modest. Go for the king room 312 for even more privacy (and a kitchenette/fireplace). It’s worth it. Shout out to Cherokee (one of the owners) who is accommodating and gave excellent references on what to do/where to do it. Bottom line: don’t hesitate to book here.

So if you want to just stay in a room and watch tv then this place is not for you. The room is very clean but quite average. However, the reason you come here is to relax in the peace and quiet right next to a flowing stream with wildlife all around. We saw mule deer and elk just a few blocks from here on an evening walk and they have marmots and magpies right on the property. And the hummingbirds are just so fun to watch! I couldn’t get enough of them. What a great place to curl up with a book next to the stream and enjoy nature! We stayed in room 207 where the balcony looked right over bunny falls and we heard the water right from our room and it was beautiful. The owner is so friendly and gave great recommendations and truly cares that his customers are satisfied.

This is our favorite place to stay in Estes Park. The owners Cherokee and Nicole go above and beyond to make everything perfect. A late May snow storm changed our plans and allowed us 2 extra days at Deer Crest and we couldn’t have been happier! Nicole was able to extended our reservation by switching some things around. The hotel is very welcoming and super CLEAN! The housecleaning team works hard to make sure everything sparkles. You will see some wildlife on property so be ready with your camera. Ask them for restaurant recommendations- they never steer us wrong. You won’t be disappointed with a stay at Deer Crest Resort. Tell Cherokee, Moose sent you!
