The facilities are very clean. The bathroom and showers were very nice. Everyone we dealt with made sure we were finding everything we needed and were very helpful. The only bad thing I would say about this campground is that the sites are very close...More

We have been coming to this campground for five years. We stayed in A24. We heard elk bugling at night for three of the nights. We pulled in on Labor Day and left on Friday. Our first morning in camp we had a small herd...More

We stayed at the East Portal campground for two nights over Labor Day weekend. We were unable to get a spot within Rocky Mountain National Park. Research led us to East Portal, which is just outside the Park (less than ten minutes by car). We...More

Thank you for your very positive review! Our staff (many are volunteers) always appreciate feedback that recognizes their efforts and encourages others to visit the park they are so passionate about. We are excited to have recently partnered with the Rocky Mountain Conservancy who will...More

Unfortunately, the sites are not level. I think it would be relatively easy to level them and that would make a world of difference. We were there in a Class B RV and couldn't level it, so didn't get a good night's sleep. The picnic...More

    About
    Hotel description
So close, yet feels so far away from the hustle and bustle of Estes Park. This very popular campground is located at an elevation of 8,300 feet at the end of a beautiful road just west of town. There are wonderful views of the snow covered peaks in Rocky Mountain National Park and access to the East Portal Reservoir which has ample opportunities for fishing. This double loop campground offers shady sites suitable for tenters and campers with small RVs and trailers shorter than 24 feet in length. It is especially well-suited for families and outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore nearby nature and trails in Rocky Mountain National Park. Sites at this campground open up to views of Rocky Mountain National Park and starry nighttime skies. A mature blend of ponderosa and lodgepole pines interspersed with groves of aspens makes it a wonderful home away from home. It is an ideal setting for guests seeking recreation and relaxation. The camping season runs from May 15th - October 3rd.
