My husband was born in Estes Park in 1928, so we are always looking for a way to enjoy the area and still stay out of the crowds. We are so grateful to have discovered the relative quiet of Hwy 66, west of town. Fall River Road is too noisy and congested, so come over to Idlewilde. This part of...

I only hesitate to post a great review because I want to keep Idlewilde a secret for myself and family. My wife and I visited for our 21st anniversary and chose them, sight unseen, based on reviews only. The reviews don't lie, folks. You won't find a more pleasant place to stay in Estes Park and you definitely won't find...

This is our first visit to Idlewild in over 25 years. Nothing much has changed in that time; the rustic cabins are the same, and the beauty of the place is also the same. What is most attractive to us is the tranquility of spirit within this valley. The village of Estes Park is minutes away if shopping is your...

We booked Idlewilde sight unseen, based on online reviews. We were not disappointed in the least. Our hosts, Deb and Larry Brand, were helpful from the moment we made the reservation. The resort sits on CO 66 outside the town of Estes Park. It is clean and the cabins are well appointed. The Big Thompson River runs along the edge...

We have stayed at Idlewilde every Labor day holiday for the past five years and have already booked next year. The cabins are well kept and being so close to the river makes fishing awesome. The open area next to the river gives kids a great place to play. Great family time.

This is a nice, clean and peaceful resort. Unfortunately we were only able to stay for three nights. The Big Thompson River flows along the edge and adds a comforting tranquility. There are lots of hummingbirds and other varieties that we don't get to see in Minnesota. An elk crossing the river nearby was something we also don't see here....

We just have returned from a week stay at Idlewilde and have booked for a return trip already in 2017. Great location outside of busy Estes Park near the main park entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. The Big Thompson River flows through the property and I was surprised by the excellent fishing there. The property is so relaxing to...

Just got back from four nights in the Naughty Pine cabin (#14), which was perfect for us, our niece and nephew and their rambunctious 4- and 3-year-olds. Can't get that river soundtrack out of my head (and will be sad when I do). Just the right mix of comfort and rustic -- big kitchen, 3 br and a pair of...

I won my grandson's school lottery and decided to apply it to a family vacation. I informed the grandchildren (ages 6-12) that it would be a MOUNTAIN vacation and not a BEACH vacation. I thought they would be disappointed but they were excited. I chose IDLEWILDE because I have always wanted to stay in cabins by the Big Thompson River....

There is NOWHERE on earth I would rather be-- except perhaps someplace with my grandchildren-- the Idlewilde. I love it being mine for a week every year. it's like owning a part of Heaven. The cabins are comfy and the river sings a music that fills my soul.
