This is a great campground surrounded by redwood trees. The roads through the campground and some of the sites can be tight for larger RV's, but we found several that would work. Some of our favorites were right by the river, but they are smaller. There is a nice nature trail that leads through a grove of redwoods and the...

Back off the coastal highway but worth the 20 minute drive up the hill. Can be out to the fog if its hugging the coast. Well maintaned and staff are not in your face like other State campgrounds. Walks along the Smith River below the campground and beautiful and safe.

This is a really beautiful, well maintained campground. The sites are spacious and have a level tent pad, fire ring, picnic table, and bear box. Make sure you use the bear boxes and leave nothing out unless you're preparing it or eating it, they will take your food and ticket you. They are serious about it because of the bears...

Amazing trees! The campground is situated right among the redwoods and is designed to take advantage of the trees and river. We had a campsite right on the river. It was peaceful and scenic. Although there is no electricity, there are pay showers. Have quarters on you as there are NO change machines on site.

This is a clean, quiet campground. The sites are roomy with huge redwoods. It is conveniently located east of Crescent City where you can go to dinner and shop. Just know that you need quarters for the shower and bring enough of them because 5 minutes goes fast. Also bring your own soap. We loved it!

Everything about this campground is perfect. Very well maintained and easy to use, obviously cleared out on a regular basis. Not too buggy. Very well separated from adjacent campsites, though you definitely have a community feel to the sites. Bathrooms clean and though bare-bones, it's camping!! The showers were HOT and very comfortable to use. Wasn't scared someone would barge...

We stayed 2 nights in this campground and was lucky to get a spot for 2 nights in a row. You have to make your reservations well ahead of time. Do not just show up thinking you will get a space. You are among the Giant Redwoods camping here, its amazing and beautiful. Facilities are good for a state park....

This is one of the best campgrounds I have been to. It is set within a grove of redwoods, and you have the luxury of sleeping beneath their awesome canopy. The sites themselves vary, but there are many that are very good. I prefer some of the more isolated ones, but there are terrific ones throughout the area, especially along...

Situated in a redwood forest, by the Smith River (where you can swim), inside one of the greatest parks in the US, with beautiful, well maintained campsites. Great Ranger programs with enthusiastic rangers. Most campers we met here have been coming every year for decades, and you can see why. We'll be joining them.

We really enjoyed staying here. It's a relatively small site in prime location so reserve well in advance if you want a good site. Most sites are pretty private with lots of shelter from the giant redwoods. Staff were really friendly. It's in a great location to explore the park. Bathrooms were clean and showers were hot and powerful and...
