The good: It's got lots of character, especially in a small town like Pipestone. Everyone was really nice and accommodating. The shower products were good quality. They allow pets.
The not so good: The walls are pretty thin so you hear all the creaks and...More
A lovely hotel - not a modern place with all the bells and whistles, but lots of small town charm, grace and comfort, including free wifi, free breakfast and an in-room kitchenette. Very quiet, lovely toiletries, and a gracious front desk staff.
I love historic buildings and hotels which is why I chose this hotel. Disappointed that I could not rent one of the antique rooms because my dog was with me but that's ok. The room I was given was on the third floor, it was...More

Sorry I can't answer specifically about the family suite. We stayed in room 205, but were able to peek into a few other rooms on the second floor. If you're looking for a shiny, "sparkly" room that looks like every other room you find in new hotels, this isn't the place for you. If you like historic, clean, comfortable, "homey" as in kind of a grandma's house feel, this is exactly what you want.
I couldn't access their website this morning to see what they say about the family suite. I would suggest you give them a call. They should be able to answer your question. Everyone who worked in the hotel seemed very friendly. I would ask if the suite is one of the rooms that has been remodeled recently and wouldn't hesitate to ask politely if they could possibly send a couple of photos of the room your interested in. (We did post pictures of room 205 with our review.) They may or may not provide photos, but it never hurts to ask.

The Hotel Hell episode was quite interesting. It seems like it has gone down hill since it was filmed. I don't know about all of the rooms, but the two we saw had wall paper including large roses wallpaper in the rose room. I honestly can't remember the furniture in our room. I thought it was not typical motel furniture but nothing unusual. We did not have a jacuzzi or claw foot tub. The rooms are large and seemed comfortable enough to us.
