I knew from reading previous reviews that the location doesn't look anything like the picture. It is situated between two major freeways in an industrial area. Despite this we had no problems during our four night stay. The desk staff was friendly, the room was updated, clean and the the mattress was comfortable. The walls are pretty thin. However, it was quiet after 10 PM and we did not hear any freeway noise (our room was facing the courtyard). Complementary breakfast had a good variety: scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, make-your-own waffles, fresh fruit and an assortment of breads, cold cereals and yogurt. The only jarring thing was the state of the elevator. The wood paneling was very beat-up. For the price, a good value.

Thank you wanderer31310, I am glad to see that you had a good stay on the whole and enjoyed the breakfast and beds. We are also replacing the wood paneling you mentioned as it is original to the building. We hope to see you on your next trip through Albuquerque for another good stay. Sincerely, Chris

The rating for this hotel is based on expectations for similar accommodations. The place is comfortable with no views to speak of. Highest floor is 3rd floor. Our room had a digital temperature readout on heater controls. (Sister had to guess the desired temperature on older control.) The refrigerator froze everything. (It was not a big enough issue to request replacement as front desk informed us at checkout.) No room safe. The room is not very soundproof. Hallway noise is easily heard but guests were considerate. Ample free parking is available. No parking pass is required.
The standalone fitness center and pool/spa building is shared with guests of Crown Plaza. So, one has to walk out in the cold to get to the fitness center. No lifeguard is on duty. No locker room exists but one shower is available.
Complimentary breakfast at Fairfield is on first floor. The dining area is large enough to handle the guests. If desired, you can go back to room with the food. Ham, eggs, bread, bagels, peanut butter, yogurt, cereal, fruit, self made waffles and other assortments are available. Microwave is also available. Hours are Mon-Fri 6am-9am, Weekends/Holidays 7am-10am.
The one elevator holds 9 maximum people. The wait for elevator was never an issue for others in our party. We had no problem using the stairs to and from 3rd floor room.
Overall, the friendly staff, convenient location and nice accommodations make this inn a repeat destination.

I do not understand the 1-star reviews, that was not my experience. The room was a nice size and clean. The fridge in the room was nice for keeping our CVS bottled water cold. Bathroom was small but shower was okay, plenty of hot water. Breakfast was good for continental - juice, coffee, bagels/toast, fruit and juice, my husband enjoyed the provided peanut butter on toast. Front desk was pleasant. We were given wrist bands to enjoy the pool at the Adjoining Crown Plaza. We just walked over for a Beer from the Cantina, but the pool looked very nice. We would have enjoyed it had we stayed more than 1 night.
I would definitely stay here again; I believe it is a good deal for the price you pay. The only issue we had was our key didn't work in the back door when returning from the Crown Plaza, so we just walked around to the front. The guy at the front desk, said you had to wiggle it... But no big deal, he replaced the key anyway.
The front elevator is being replaced; we were on the 2nd floor above the lobby so we just walked up the stairs. But there is another elevator down the way, if you have lots of luggage or can’t do stairs.

We reserved a room from Tuesday-Thursday because my grandson had an appointment with the UNM development and disability clinic and thought this hotel would be perfect for us since it was close to the clinic. If I could give them a negative rate I would! The air conditioner in our room didn’t work and when I let them know the front desk clerk said it’s because it’s really hot outside, it was 90 degrees and I live in southern NM where our temps are 112 degrees. The bathroom was somewhat clean and only 1 roll of toilet paper for 3 days for 4 people. We had to keep calling housekeeping for clean towels and toilet paper and it took a couple of calls and never got anything so we grabbed some off a maids cart in the hallway. Breakfast ends at 9am and I called at 9:02 to see if they had any boxed breakfast (due to Covid-19) left and the clerk was rude and said they did but breakfast was over at 9am sharp and hung up. Worst stay ever!! Do Not Recommend!!

Nice hotel. The beds were nice and rooms were big. Had spacious place to move about freely. The reception staff was friendly and courteous. The breakfast has lots of choices and i was particularly impressive the choices it had for the lactose intolerant. That was noteworthy. The location is right at intersection of two major highways but we didn’t hear any noise from traffic.

Many reviews indicate housekeeping issues but as we stayed one night we didn’t face such issue and our room was clean.

The area does give an impression of being shady and has a security on constantly patrol. However by morning those fears were dispelled.

This Fairfield is bound to disappoint anyone who makes the mistake of staying a night. The short, chubby, Caucasian male with brown hair working the desk is unhelpful, rude, and just all around unpleasant. Which in this case I am glad he was because it made me choose to stay somewhere else. Thank you rude guy!

My husband and I were on a trip and stopped in Albuquerque. We had to go home by another way to avoid the wildfires. I usually read reviews for the hotels where we stay on Trip Advisor but I didn't this time. I looked at the pictures on Google and they looked fine. We'd already stayed in 10 other Marriotts before this one and we felt pretty secure about the safety measures they've taken to protect their patrons during this pandemic. However, a few of the hotels fell short and this was definitely one of them. Now, I'd written this review before but it wasn't posted. I'm not sure why. The experience was terrible from start to finish. First, we drove for hours trying to escape the wildfire smoke so we were tired. When we reached the street where the hotel was it was like we could hear a narrator say "It was a dark and scary night." The area didn't look safe. The room looked like an old motel that had been renovated. I take that back. The whole building looked like they simply took the name of the Roach Motel off the front of the building and replaced it with Marriott. The guy at the front desk gave us a hard time and it was just an all around bad experience. I'm a rewards member and you'd think they'd treat you better as a loyal customer. We ran out of there early the next morning and spent the next night at the Residence Inn at the Airport.

Room—except not even any plastic cups, hair dryer, and the towels were substandard. We travel with our dog, but the sliding door would NOT open, so that was inconvenient. A security car patrolled regularly EXCEPT when a fight broke out right outside our sliding door before 5:00 a.m. I called the front desk—20 rings and no answer. We started to gather our items to leave (for safety, not because we needed to leave so early) and I called again—the desk answered I told them an altercation was occurring outside our slider. Then, the fight came to the inside hall right next to our inside door. We were trapped! I called the front desk again but no answer. Eventually Security arrived, but it appeared to us that some of those involved in the fight had left. We high tailed it out without a shower, etc. And of course no coffee or food for us in the lobby. We chose this property as Marriott members (gold I think) and we are very disappointed. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

This hotel is misrepresented in its photos. The photos online are not what the rooms look like. From the moment we pulled in, there were people in the parking lot that made me feel uncomfortable. There was a box truck with someone sitting in it with the doors open, another person walking around looking in the cars and someone smoking a cigarette with their shirt off watching people walk in. As we were walking down the hall, there was a random shoe hanging out in the hallway. We asked for a room facing the parking lot so we could keep an eye on our vehicles and were given an inside room. When I attempted to call the front desk, the phone in the room wasn’t working. We made the decision to not stay the night. Unfortunately, we were unable to cancel our room for the night, and are out $100 for the room, but going to a different hotel was worth the peace of mind.

This may be a terrific hotel; we have not stayed here. But, I want to caution others by describing our own reservations experience for an October 2023 stay.

Made a reservation on Feb. 8th; emailed to cancel it a few days later when other plans caused a change. No response. So, on Feb. 17th I called the hotel. No answer at all for Reservations (Opt 1) after multiple rounds of ringing. Called back and tried Operator (Opt 3). Spoke with a GM, who was very pleasant and assured me that the reservation was cancelled. I asked for a cancellation confirmation. Opened that "cancellation confirmation" on Feb. 20th, and it was a confirmation for a stay (including the original October dates with the nightly rates) at The Opera Hotel. What?

On Feb. 20th, called Reservations again. The line was answered, and I was immediately put on hold without warning. After a wait, the woman came back on the line to tell me to call back in a couple of hours, as she couldn't get into any bookings. SO, I called back again on the Operator line, and asked for the Manager. It happened to be the same person I had spoken with on the 17th. He assured me that our reservation was cancelled, but said that "they don't send cancellation confirmations." Honestly, we have traveled all over the world, and this is a FIRST. He tried to send a screen shot of the cancellation, but all I got was the Hotel name/address/phone number. So, we are at risk for possible charges on two confirmations with different confirmation numbers.

My advice to the Querque - get a new reservations system. We have traveled all over the world, and have never faced this before. You can always get a cancellation confirmation, or just an email from the front desk. VERY STRANGE!
