We stayed here last minute due to issues with our reservation at a different hotel. The entire staff here was fantastic. The rate was very reasonable despite the same day booking on the night before the balloon festival (we tried a couple of other hotels that wanted 400 plus for a room that would be half the price normally). When we arrived, they offered valet for free (yes, we did tip them well). When I asked about the hours of operation (because we needed the car at 5 AM the next morning to get to our festival shuttle), not only did the woman managing the valet area assure me that they would be "open," she also arranged to have the car waiting for us. It was there when we came downstairs at 4:50. Check in was wonderful. The desk clerk offered us either of the available views (mountain or valley), The bellman who brought our things up was amazing as well. He (or maybe it was the woman from the valet) made sure we had plenty of water and that everything was okay with our room. The casino and entire resort are smoke free and exceptionally clean and well kept. We had drinks at the pool bar and dinner in the restaurant... and, again, everything was great. The whole experience was fantastic... Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Coming from a situation that had just been awful (see my review of the Extended Stay on Rio Rancho for details), it was just refreshing to be treated with such kindness and commitment to customer service. I would highly recommend staying at the Sandia Resort!

We were surprised by how nice the hotel and casino was. The rooms were very nice, I was in the 6th floor and had a mountain and golf course view which was very nice. We played golf and the course was in great shape and green fees were very reasonable. Totally enjoyed our stay and will be back!

We bought the package for the Brett Young concert and felt it was worth it. Nice room, great seats, $50 gift card and some small 'gifts'. Customer service was great, and everyone was so nice.
The only issue is now that we are home....We realized we left our Ipad in the safe. We cleaned everything out but did not see the black case on black bottom. We have called six times--front desk, housekeeping supervisor, and manager, plus emailed and messaged, but we cannot get anyone to respond. We think it may still just be sitting in the safe, so it would be very nice if they would look and let us know.
Other than this, great weekend.

This property is enormous, with several bars and a casino

Pros –

Beautiful rooms with great views of the Sandia, if you request it. Be careful as the view to the west is of a roof.

Rain shower and huge bathroom

No smoking in the casino

Very clean rooms

Cons –

They want to charge you $50 if you check in before 3 p.m. – even if the room is ready

The pillows are the most uncomfortable pillows I have ever slept with.  They are too tall and make you crick your neck.

Staff is so, so.  Some were super friendly; the majority did not seem happy even to be there.

Digital checkout through TV is non-functional.

They make you wear a mask everywhere, even though there is a bar next to the casino, and not a soul wears one there.  Makes absolutely no sense.

We had an event here. Otherwise, I would have chosen a different hotel.  This is a nice one, but the value doesn’t meet my needs.

I got charged$250 smoking fee: I NEVER SMOKED in the room I can be seen on camera going outside to smoke. I threw a empty Marlboro box in the trash because I put the 4 cigarettes I had in my wrist wallet so I did not lug around my big purse in the casino and bar area. My 20 yr old child purchased a sage in the gift shop and did light the tip in the room in which I got mad and grabbed a white styrofoam coffee cup and poured it over the sage tip to put out immediately. The staff would have had to literally dig through the trash to see that. They immediately assumed I was smoking in which I was not: I paid over $400 for this room, paid for room service , spent over $500 at the bar for the party of 6 I was with, and gambled over $2500 in the casino and generously tipped the valet at arrival and departure, the coke ladies in the casino, the bartenders, and room service delivery. It was a slap in my face to get charge $250 for not smoking in my room. I called spoke to a supervisor and was told they would call me back. I NEVER received a call back in disputing that charge. Will not rent a room again and will not go to the casino again. For the way I was treated for throwing a Marlboro box away:

The rooms are spacious, clean, and well appointed. Housekeeping staff do an excellent job. If everything else lived up to that standard, we'd have a five star resort, but unfortunately we do not.

My idea of a resort doesn't include the skivvy, chain-smoking, overweight and near-death looking people who come to a casino. Here, we have two very different kinds of customers mixed together, and neither type appreciates having the other around. Restaurants in the resort range from good to terrible. If you want healthy food, it isn't here. On some days, all the restaurants except one shut down so the open one is overloaded and you're told to wait 90 minutes to get in at 6PM.

Since the resort is located on reservation land, it's not walking distance to anything. That meant we took 19 Uber rides in five days to get around. The resort has at least one shuttle bus, but they won't take their customers anywhere ... not even to the airport. I was told the bus was used "under contract only", whatever that means. Even Holiday Inn does better than that.

The "health spa" was only open 4 days/week, and on other days I couldn't even reach a staff member to ask a question or make an appointment, so I didn't use it. Spa branded shampoo and conditioner put in the room was the cheapest dime-store junk imaginable.

The concierge desk was never manned during 5 days. One front desk staffer (Emily) was helpful, the others were useless and knew nothing.

Over all, this place can't decide what it wants to be. As a result, it fails at everything.

Sandia is a 5+ star resort and casino to stay at for business, vacation or just to visit the casino and restaurants. The Counsel Room is a good place to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Coffee Shop has the most delicious bakery items, good coffee and friendly staff work there. The rooms are beautiful and the mattresses are very comfortable with large comfy puffy soft pillows. The security staff stationed by the elevators brought us peace of mind that only guests and staff were allowed in the hotel area. The new Sports Bar is magnificent and out of this world! The conference area of the resort we spent a lot of our time at was inviting and clean. Everything about the Sandia Resort and Casino was very positive and we'll be back soon!

First of all it’s a beautiful facility, rooms are as nice as any. The reason for the two stars is to get their attention! There is a very nice soaker tub but there’s no hot water to soak in. There’s a great shower but no hot water to rinse the shampoo from your hair! According to the front desk the water temperature is purposely kept so low but no explanation as to why. The only other sad part about the room is that apparently even though they cost over $200 a night they can’t afford fabric softener. The sheets are uncomfortable and the bath towels are like drying with sandpaper, not at all acceptable for an otherwise upscale facility..

Do it if you can for Balloon Fiesta!
We spent a few days during Balloon Fiesta and are glad we did!
Having Gondola Club tickets (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) we are at the parking area in 13’ using surface streets,
The service is exceptional, COVID precautions (temp for entry, mask inside) impressive and it is beautiful. Golf course (good condition) and potential to view mountains or balloons facing downtown make it even better.
Bottled water is complimentary as are non alcoholic beverages in the casino area. Pool and fire pits are nice for chilly evenings.
Bien Mur wasn’t yet open but the sports bar food was good and again the service almost ridiculously good (thanks Nicole).
Valet parking complimentary but we always got close in the lots.

Sandia Resort exceeded our expectations! Upon arrival Mariah was so friendly and accommodating! We got a great room with an amazing view and each day she answered all our questions being first time visitors to NM! Any time Daniel, a manager, saw us he asked us how we were enjoying our time -fabulous! Lorenzo the chef at the pool grill went above and beyond making my food requests due to my own restrictions for the 2 days we enjoyed relaxing at the pool. Lorenzo also enlightened and educated us on his culture. Fascinating! He was a blessing to us! Rae was an awesome waitress & Shanlynn worked so hard in the heat poolside keeping all the guest hydrated with waters and clean towels! We enjoyed lunch, dinner & a breakfast at the Golf grill all 3 days. The views there are a must eat and Lyndsi & Elissa were again exceptional waitresses! Our last night at the Sports Bar & Grill did not disappoint. Lauren was so busy with so many customers but never missed a beat serving 7 checking in on us and what a gorgeous sunset that night from the Sports wrap around balcony! Even our house keeper Elena made sure our room was perfect and kept us well stocked with waters upon our request. We enjoyed so many attractions within 10-20min. drive from the Resort! We took an incredible tram ride 10,000ft up Sandia Mountain that our room looked out at and hiked some small trails for 3 hours. Simply breathtaking views of the valley below. We visited Olde Town shops in Albuquerque and played golf at the resort. Even the cart girls Cindy & Paige were so helpful and friendly. The Casino was fun at night too. It was so refreshing to stay at a Resort where every single person excelled in hospitality and genuine care for their guests! We can't wait to go back and we told all our friends to put on their must visit destinations!
