The stunning stone buildings at historic Olivers began as a general store supplying prospectors during the gold mining boom in the 1860s. However the buildings have been gracefully refurbished and landscaped to provide guests with a boutique hotel accommodation in Central Otago. Breakfast is served in a 115 year old dining room where the aroma of newly baked bread and freshly brewed coffee welcomes you.

We stayed here as it was so close to Bike It Now for our ride on the Central Otago Rail Trail - you literally cross the road and you are there! Clyde is an historic and very interesting town which is definitely a tour magnet of the future. Olivers dominates the town and is very chic. I have only given 4 stars because, although I knew the room we had booked was not going to be large, it was really quite dark and would have been far better as a single room. The breakfast was tasty and of a high quality but there wasn't a lot of choice.

This is a very nice place, the owners gave us a warm welcome and were most helpful throughout our stay.

Our room was of a v. good standard, we could also make tea/coffee in the room or the lounge/kitchen, a biscuit with the the in room tea tray would have been nice. It is old and not fresh however that is the look/feel I think that the owners are after.

There is quite a difference between the rooms in regards layout and room, our fist choice was not available, our rooms was v.good, our first choice looked much better.

Other guests did comment on the small size of some of the rooms, we did not see these.

The breakfast involved a nice quite large selection of standard cereals along with some nice fruit/compote options, homemade bread was a feature, there was a cooked options, baked eggs, however the same option was offered each morning perhaps a change if someone is staying more than one night would be good.

For me breakfast can be the full stop on a stay.

Situated in the heart of the heritage centre of Clyde, this beautifully renovated lodge has a number of rooms of varying type, size and price. Every room is unique, private and quiet. We stayed in one of the largest rooms and it was huge, with a spacious bathroom (large bath and separate shower) with windows opening onto a pretty garden. The lodge is furnished with antiques and has a very special atmosphere. A delicious breakfast is included in the room rate and is served in a large farmhouse style kitchen/dining room which opens onto a pretty garden/courtyard area. The owners are delightful and a great source of knowledge on the history of the region.

Not to be missed property oozing history with the home being over 115 years old so well presented by the hosts David and Andrea. There are a total of 11 rooms in the renovated Homestead & Stables we had one of the stable rooms and it was just superb with a comfy queen size bed. The breakfast was just amazing and just what we needed starting out on the Rail Trail

We had the pleasure of spending a night at Olivers staying in The Soap Factory, a converted cart store.
Our hosts were very welcoming and provided a fab breakfast the following morning, including a cooked option.
Our room for the night was so cosy and comfortable we could not have asked for more.
Highly recommend a stop off at Olivers.

We were lucky enough to stay in the Smoke House on our visit to Oliver's in Clyde. It is a little more expensive but we decided it was a treat after staying in some lesser accommodations during our stay in south island New Zealand. It was a stunningly appointed room with a luxurious free standing clawed foot bath which was wonderful to have a soak after hiking and cycling. David and Andy are wonderful hosts and very accommodating. Breakfast is served on beautiful old china with homemade bread and locally produced jams and fresh fruit. Clyde is only a small town but due to the rail trails for cycling and walking there is enough choice for eating and drinking. I would highly recommend staying at Oliver's.

Prior to heading out on the Otago Rail Trail we were presented with Olivers as our overnight accomodation by Cycle Surgey and I'm really glad they did because this was a not to be missed property oozing history and so well presented by the hosts David and Andrea. Only one night but the bedroom nearest the front door with ensuite was great. The room was huge, the large double bed was superb, soft and very comfortable, this was one of six bedrooms off the main hallway. There are further rooms in the renovated stables as well as elsewhere in the house, totalling 11. So much to take in with the art work displayed and the amazing collection of plates and service in the kitchen and dinning room, it was all very impressive and a credit to the hosts. A lovely breakfast with yummy local bread.
Parts of this house are over 115 years old whilst the front of the house is more recent but everything was in very good condition.

This was one of those dream travel experiences. From the moment we walked in the door of this beautifully restored building and were warmly welcomed by the hosts, we felt this was going to be special.
The interior decoration sets off the lovely old Gold Rush Gentleman’s residence perfectly. Inviting, relaxed common areas, relaxing gardens and the rooms were beautifully authentic.
Lovely breakfast and perfectly located in the main street, this place was the highlight of our rail trial experience.

As soon as you walk into this beautiful heritage home you are transported to a different time. The house has been so respectfully restored, you can see the Owners have put their heart and soul into this property, showing style and grace, but not forgetting the modern needs, our rooms were so warm, and spacious, delightful bathrooms, and such attention to detail everywhere.
Our Hosts were also lovely, informative, but respectful of our privacy, we felt like it was our Home, enjoying the lounge with its cosey fire.
And after a quiet nights sleep, we then had a delightful breakfast, once again with all the crockery and cutlery of that time, we felt so spoilt.
Thank you, and we look forward to coming again.

We stayed in the Jackson Room for two nights, a well appointed room with a bathroom a third of the size of the bedroom. Water pressure and a beautiful claw foot bath.

Fantastic hospitality. We were well received, well looked after and it was nice staying in a building that had so much history. Clyde didn't disappoint in relation to food even though it was the cusp of the wider season.

Breakfasts were held in a long table style and as well as continental we were served up delicious, hot, baked eggs daily and fresh bread.

The setting was beautiful and the weather put on a show.
