Check in was easy and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The walk from the car park was up the vehicle ramp with not much room for pedestrians with bags and with some foreign drivers in evidence unfamiliar with our road rules or 'driving full stop', you take your chances. Our room was very comfortable and clean with a peep...

Think Fawlty Towers combined with The Grand Hotel Budapest and you will have captured the essence of this unique hotel. Invisible to the sat nav but stunningly impossible to miss upon arrival. Views also amazing. Reception was unusual to say the least. We honestly wouldn't have found our villa without the assistance of other guests and although suitable parking was...

I was always somewhat overawed by this place while driving by to go skiing over the last 20 odd years so to stay here was a dream come true. Driving up to this hotel it is like you are transported back to another time to some remnant of the old British Empire. It has this grandiose feel about it. This...

This is a very informative trout breeding centre. You get the background history, get a chance to feed the fish and enjoy a peaceful walk along the river in the lush green surroundings. Shame you cannot purchase some rainbow trout.

Beautiful location and a grand old hotel. Absolutely top notch service. Large, clean room. We had both a tub and shower stall. Easy walk to National Park trails. Wonderful breakfast buffet. Popular hotel for weddings and tour groups.

Joined family for high tea; everything was great except how unwelcoming the staff were of children. Ours were incredibly well behaved and played outside however the staff still had an issue with this "oh god they have children" was our welcome.

Afternoon tea was fully booked when we 'phoned, but we called in on the off-chance and were fitted in to a window table. There is a wide menu of different teas, and the High Tea sandwiches and cakes/scones were excellent.

I enjoyed my staying at the Chateau. It is classy, located in a beautiful spot in the National Park, polite staff members. I am happy with the room that I got and the quality of the services. I would recommend the place.

We caught the Northern Explorer from Auckland to National Park and stayed overnight at the Chateau to celebrate our Mum's 80th birthday. Wonderful scenic trip on the train but the highlight was definitely our stay at the beautiful Chateau! Great to reminisce about past trips to the Chateau over the years, some as long ago at the 1950s, and to...

This elegant hotel at the base of Mt. Ruapehu is impressive from the outside and nicely appointed inside. A large gathering room has a view of Mt. Ngauruhoe and the dining room is impressive. We had a large corner room with one queen and three twin beds for the three of us. Its decor was upscale, it was in good...
