Detailed Reviews
Great property in an awesome location in Northland. We received a warm welcome on arrival and were looked after very well by the hosts. I think this would be a greatT place for a family to stay, especially with the pool and the family room. Also handy to both Leigh and Goat Island so would make a good base for exploration of the area. The hosts were also very knowledgeable and were able to advise on dinner etc when asked. We chose to go to the Sawmill which was very good.

We found our room insufficiently clean. The breakfast was a shame, both in quality, quantity, choice and way of presenting. Dennis and Jill are planning to sell the B&B within months from now. That cannot be soon enough. Otherwise this could have been a nice place to stay, if new owners show more commitment to their guests.

Stayed for the weekend mid winter, as not busy were upgraded to the best room! Beautiful place in a great area for exploring. Walking distance to goat Island, short distances to matakana and the Saturday markets, Leigh & many beautiful bays and walks. Jill was so friendly and breakfast was lovely. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

We first went to stay at Nikau Haven, with Dennis and Jill, this year October 2012 Labour Weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay for two nights, and have even booked a couple of nights in January 2013. The house is quite beautiful and are made even more so with Dennis and Jill as your hosts. Breakfast was delicious; cereals, toast, fruit and home made jams as well as Jills Flat Whites! :) We would highly recommend everyone to stay there if in the Leigh/Matakana area for a visit and is reasonably priced for such a lovely stay. Nestled between the Sawmill Pub and the Goat Island Marine reserve, their house and gardens are beautiful, and we recommend having a few drinks out on their deck overlooking the garden as the sun comes down!

I stayed at Nikau Haven in October while traveling the North Island. We were a group of 6. Dennis made us feel most welcome. He provided us with lots of valuable travel advice. It is a lovely walk out to the Goat Island Marine Reserve from the B&B.
