The grounds are lovely but it’s missing some bare essentials and the rooms are desperate for an upgrade. The pool is small and there was only 1 sun lounger for the whole pool facility (we found this strange) so we lay on the grass. The spa was dirty and cold so not useable. The rooms don’t have wifi. This is made clear but seriously who doesn’t have wifi these days. The breakfast was excellent and the staff very hospitable. We had a lovely stay but it’s not worth $600 per night.

Thanks so much Charlie for your outstanding sevice! We all felt right at home and we are truly lucky to have you during our stay. The food was delicious (the scampi being the best!), and the place will give you the serenity that you long for. The villas as also really spacious, the beddings are so clean and comfy, the bathroom is way bigger than what I imagined, and the spa bath tub was the best thing! The windows beside the tub opens up to the beautiful mountain view outside, and my 6 yr old could not get enough of it! We would like to take this opportunity to thank Charlie, as he was the most gracious host we have ever had! He was very attentive and also we love how he took the time to chat with us, and we shared some really interesting stories that made our vacation more enjoyable. Charlie also made sure that our young daughter had fun, and went out of his way to make her feel really special. We hope to be back there and see you again Charlie! ☺️☺️☺️

Finding the Lodge was difficult...there are 2 Wyllie Roads...1 of which is a dead end. The correct Wyllie Road is a 15 minute drive on gravel, and the Lodge is poorly signposted...in fact...they havent even changed the name to Woodhouse Mountain Lodge and you could easily end up in a farmers back yard. To be fair, the Lodge only opened after months in Covid Lock Up, and the staff were not well versed in the Lodge and welcoming. Our greeter didn't know where our room was located on the property. The rooms are tired and in need of a real clean and spruce up. The chef and dining experience was excellent.

Hi 255106Kim, Thanks for taking the time to share your review of your recent experience at the lodge. We appreciate the confusion caused by the ongoing road works, and will be escalating the issue with Auckland Transport and Google Maps to ensure our guests to get to the lodge with ease. While we are glad to hear to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed your dining experience, we are disappointed that we failed to deliver the outstanding experience that we are famous for. We have taken your feedback onboard and will work on improving in the areas identified. Thanks again for sharing your review. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back on your next visit to the lodge. Warm Regards, Joshua Thomas General Manager Woodhouse Mountain Lodge.

My husband and I had a fantastic weekend stay complete with beautiful food, charming and cosy accommodation and the best massage treatments. The staff are fabulous and very helpful and friendly. With an inviting fireplace and spa bath in our room, we certainly will be back soon for some more indulgence and relaxation.
