Detailed Reviews
Typing this just prior to checking out after a 2 week stay in managed isolation at the Sebel Manukau. The time has flown by and it’s a credit to the quality of the property, the staff, and the food.
I was stoked when I walked into my room with a large queen bed (2 singles pushed together), large tv, microwave, desk, fridge, modern functional bathroom, quality linen. Good aircon when required but opening window to rear carpark was a bonus.
The staff were polite, professional, and eager to please at all times. Laundry and linen service was efficient and interactions regarding deliveries were also seamless.
As MIQ was full board, food was included and it was awesome. It can only reflect positively on the quality of food offered during normal operations. Also, I ordered a few beers while waiting for some to be delivered from ‘the outside’ and they were great value, fresh, and icy cold.
Lastly, the area for exercise while in MIQ was the sanity saver. I ran and walked every day of quarantine (when not room-bound for final 2 days). Oh, and WIFI was great when I thrashed it watching Apple TV.
General Manager Rajiv Mathew, his staff, NZ Defence personnel, and private security run a damn good hotel quarantine operation.

Hi Graydudes, I thank you for your awesome review of the hotel and all agencies onsite who work together to look after our guest. Even though I did not choose this location or hotel, as a 'returnee' New Zealander coming back from Thailand, I am EXTREMELY impressed with the Hotel, the staff, the safety measures and procedures to help alleviate the spread of COVID and all the additional staff and personnel assigned to these procedures. The additional supports offered are also extremely well managed, with prompt, sincere and compassionate responses. This whole COVID situation is a global nightmare but back here in my home country I am proud to be a New Zealander and to have the applicable measures implemented by the great people associated with the Hotel and beyond. In addition, the food is great too. Thank you

+1
I booked the Deluxe room with 1 Kingsize bed for $250.00. Described as follows: 33sqm open concept guestroom has a kitchenette and dining area. It features a King bed, Fisher and Paykel kitchen equipment, bathroom with designer amenities, WiFi and 49inch LED TV.
Overall it was as per the photos, clean and spacious with various sky sports and movies channels as normal.
The negative in terms of the room, it seems hotels no longer provide mini bar snacks anymore which is a shame. Additionally this hotel has gone the way of providing sop , moisturizer, shampoo etc via pump action disposal units. I find these detract from the experience and are the equivalent of a cafe providing butter in a disposal package rather than in a separate stylee butter plate. This one small factor can be the difference between an average cafe from an excellent cafe. The same goes for pump action soap and shampoo dispensers. It comes across as tacky.
One other negative for the room. The TV remote, as per the photo, was filthy. I hated even touching it as I know it hadn't been cleaned in years. Its these little things that make the difference.
Hotel overall:
Hotel staff - friendly and courteous. No issues here.
It was extremely hot and muggy outside and walking into the hotel lobby it was ice cold. The air conditioning was way too cold. As it is summer I hadnt packed a sweatshirt or anything similar. Consequently it was far too cold for me to go to the restaurant or even have a sit down coffee as I was way to cold in just a t shirt. So lost business for the hotel.
The hotel lobby, foyer, and ground floor which included the one restaurant, felt a little claustrophobic and small.
Parking - not just this hotel but others are starting to charge fees to park in their carparks. I don't think this is appropriate to be honest. It cost $5.00 per night (a 50% discount as I am an Accor member). It seems like more price gouging.
Conclusion: I would stay again but be prepared with wipes for the remote and a second layer of clothing for the foyer and restaurant.

Being a new hotel things are in good working order and kept clean, but I would expect this for the price paid. Two things detract from the experience:
1) The maid service was late almost every day. We expect the room to be made up by 3:00PM so that we have clean towels when we get ready for dinner. On several occasions I had to grab clean towels from the cleaning cart in the hallway. I also had to call the front desk to get them to make up the room at 4:30PM. The hotel needs to hire more staff to solve this issue.
2) Parking has become ridiculous. There are not enough spaces at the hotel. During the day there are plenty, but in the evening there are not enough for hotel guests. When people park for the restaurant, it is even worse. Yes, they will tell you that all the on-street parking is taken up by the new apartment complex next door, but this does excuse this hotel.
We paid for parking and expect that there will be a place for us to park. The hotel needs to come up with a method to cater to hotel guest. Maybe reserved parking spaces, or gated to only allow guests to park.

We stayed here for one night on transit to Rotorua. We had to check in late due to a late flight. Check-in was quick and efficient. I asked for a room on a low floor and I got a room on a low floor. This indicated to me that someone actually read my booking request, which I made four months earlier, prior to checking-in so that it could be actioned. This was a good start. The room was clean and well presented. Restaurant staff were polite and attentive. The food was prepared as requested and the wait time was short. Overall I was happy with the stay.

I had a nice stay here, for a business visit to Auckland. Rooms are well laid out, good shower, nice linen and comfortable furnishings. Wi-fi is reliable and the housekeeping is well done. The breakfast offers a good range with fresh and varied items. Service at the restaurant is responsive and friendly. Dinner at the restaurant is pricey though and the quality is patchy, so I would question the value from that point of view. However, the wine list is good and the restaurant service is very nice. Overall I would be happy to come back here, probably just have dinner elsewhere if I was staying a few days. Thank you.

Chose to stay here because needed somewhere close to the airport for a late evening arrival and not far from where I needed to be the next morning .
Friendly check in completed I am greeted by a very very large room with all the facilities . Large TV with lots of working channels and couch and everything was new and nice
Breakfast buffet covered all the bases and I enjoyed a nice lunch on one side of the days I was there. I worked from the room one day and it was spacey and comfortable with good wifi and a great big desk.
Staff were smiling and friendly throughout and seemed genuine in showing interest in how I was enjoying the hotel and facilities .
No reason why I won’t be back !

The room that we had was very large, tidy and modern. Everything was comfortable including the bed and the couch. The bathroom is excellent and everything worked well. There was a basic kitchen in the room which would be suitable for a simple meal or breakfast.
We had breakfast downstairs in the restaurant which was fairly basic but was fine for an easy, quick breakfast. Service in the restaurant was good.

Initially we didn't enjoy our stay at the Sebel unfortunately. The air conditioning was not working, had advised the reception for 3 days, their only fix on the third night was to bring us a pedestal fan. The self-service laundry dryers also are not great, either that or the washing machine isn't spinning clothes out enough and we needed multiple tokens for one simple load. Parking is relatively easy and accessible which is good.
I had originally given 3 stars however since the initial review I have been in touch with the manager and have been provided with good customer service and issues have been resolved. As such I have amended the star rating to reflect this service. I would recommend staying here as the location is beneficial and the manager does investigate issues and provide quality service and I thank them for this. We would consider staying again.

This hotel is centrally located with lots of food options nearbye. We had a wonderful stay at the beautiful Sebel Manukau, the front of house staff were attentitive and welcoming. They placed us in adjoining g rooms on same floor and upgraded. The deluxe rooms were spacious and clean with all the amenities. Bistro Restaurant staff were also kind and caring and the Indian waiter on the afternoon shift was knowledgeable and helpful. However the breakfast missed the bar. As a regular accor hotel diner im used to the beautiful large vreakfast spreads that are regularly restocked. Here at the bistro there was a delicious continental spread however the buffet portion was never restocked and we had to ask staff to refill juices and once other items were eaten there was nothing else for other diners. The restaurant is small so you order the hot meal portion of the buffet to your table which was a good compromise. Sadly the hot food wasn't anything to write home about especially considering the price. The portions were small and unappetizing some of our meals were cold, there was no option for pancakes etc just basic bacon eggs and Hash browns. The bread was not served with butter and tasted dry. As the hotel has just reopened I'm hoping this was just a small blip that will be rectified. The airport is close and and it costs 35 dollars to get a taxi there. We will stay again and recommend to other family.
