The hostel is kind of like a motel style with accommodation in a row opposite each other. At the centre is a big kitchen area with heaps of cooking equipment and fridges, also here is a pool table and ping pong table (awesome!), there is also a decent size TV room. Looking around the hostel owner clearly puts money back...

We stayed there for two nights including New Year eve. It was very quiet in Kaitaia and in the hostel. The staff was friendly and the area is very nice. The kitchen is clean and tidy. We had a shower and a toilet in our room, all clean and smell nice. They gave us 2 towels and 3 little bottles...

I spent the past 10 weeks at Mainstreet Lodge in Kaitaia and I had the best time here! No matter if you are staying for one night or for a longer time as a seasonal worker, Mainstreet Lodge is the best place to stay in Northland. The manager Suzie is super lovely and helpful. They have all the facilities you...

This is one of the best hostels I've stayed on, the staff is super friendly and the managers are fabulous!!! This is by far the best hostel in Northland, close to the beaches and Cape Reinga, also if you are looking for work they have contact with some farms in the area.

Lovely new management team; very nice and accomodating. Clean and varied facilities. Great value for money for an adventure around the northern tip of NZ. It was hot in the rooms sometimes but that's maybe because it was the middl of summer. Other than that a great place to stay

I originally went to Kaitaia for 2 weeks and ended up staying 2 months. Carol, Suzie and Dan are absolutely the best! When it comes to seasonal work they are very organized. They make sure their people are happy and well informed unlike some places that just send you to the fields without support. Within the lodge they make you...
