My daughter and I recently visited the Napo Wildlife Center on a tributary of the Napo River which is part of the Amazon basin. We chose this lodge because it is in the Yassuni National Park and is owned and run by the Kichua people. After traveling down the Napo River on a motorized boat from Coca, we transferred to...

This is the most luxurious ecolodge we have ever visited. Yet everything fit beautifully into the environment. Recycled water treatment, solor generators, excellent staff and guides, wonderful food and the amazing Amazaon. In five days we saw maybe five moscos - that's truly awesome! This community owned and run lodge uses its proceeds to give free medical and schooling to...

At the Napo Wildlife Center, we were surrounded at all moments and in all directions by the stunning beauty of the Amazon rainforest. The remote location of the lodge enhanced the experience, and the canoe ride from the Rio Napo was an enjoyable trip in and of itself. Wildlife abounded -- in the streams, in the rainforest, and at the...

Be warned this place is a long trip into the jungle - and worth every bit of the effort! From Quito you fly to Coca, then a 2 hour motorized canoe ride and then an amazing 2 hour hand-paddled canoe ride to the lodge. The lodge is clean, extremely well run, and in a magnificent setting in the Amazon basin....

When planning our trip, I had to decide between Brazil, Peru and Ecuador for our Amazon rainforest expedition. I’m really glad I chose Ecuador. And more importantly, Napo Wildlife Center was an excellent experience. One thing to consider is that Napo is on land that is owned by the local community of indigenous people. Most of the staff is from...

We spent a lot of time reading reviews before choosing Napo--and all the reasons quoted by others were completely accurate such as great staff, the feeling of a hard working community proud of their project, outstanding guides and lovely location but we missed reading what may be one of the prime facts. One of main decisions was to preserve the...

Here are some details of our visit to the Napo Wildlife Center (NWC) Eco lodge (Ecuador/Yasuni National Park) that I think others planning a similar trip might find useful. This is a quality operation and a special place, worth the travel. Would have liked it a little better with more physical activity, since observing the wildlife was mostly sedentary. But overall, I'm very glad that we included Napo in our vacation plans.
