Detailed Reviews
We just came back from Calabogie Lodge. My husband found this gem of a place for our family getaway and it did not disappoint. Our kids loved it too. We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa overlooking the water. I can sum up our stay by giving the Lodge 5 stars across the board!
When we pulled up to the lodge, we were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it is! Its thoughfully designed so that every suite gets to enjoy the beautiful view of the water. Its even better then the pictures on the website.
Check in went very smoothly (5 mins). Reception staff was kind, polite and professional. We were offered a map of the property, and given an overview of activies/services available on site. We were also invited to reserve the pool for our family as it gets booked up quickly (public health regulations are applied to a T). Pool is amazing and true to photographs on the website, it is large, warm, with windows all around it.
The property is very clean and well maintained, and we noticed staff working around the clock to shovel snow and keep sidewalks and pathways clear of snow/ice.
The villa in which we stayed exceeded our expectations. It was comfortable in every way and super clean. We loved the open concept on the main floor, it's inviting and spacious with lots of windows and light. The fireplace is lovely and added warmth. We didnt use the washer/dryer (hello vacation) but sure is nice to have a laundry room just in case.
Bonus: a fully stocked grocery store (with delicious fresh baked bread) and an LCBO are located right beside the lodge so don't worry about forgetting any "necessities" at home.
Last but not least, the check out went smoothly (we were just sad to leave) and all charges were recorded accurately.
* Our kids would have loved to skate on the lake but it seemed like it was not being watered/maintained so the surface was not ideal for skating. Our only recommendation would be to look after the ice and maintain a small skating area for families/kids to enjoy. That is all!
Thank you Calabogie Lodge, we look forward to visiting again, hopefully next summer!

Thank you for your review! It is unfortunate that the rink was not usuable. The weather has not been the greatest for the rink preparation this year. You have defined the resort nicely, we appreciate it!

great location and beautiful sunset views from the room. The resort have dishwasher and laundry in the suit and are very thoughtful to provide everything you need incl laundry detergent. Lots of hiking trails around. Convenient with grocery, gas station and LCBO just steps away. Be aware of lots of muskito in the area

+1
Although there were not the opportunities to use most of the amenities such as the indoor poor, kayaks and eat in dining, the property was very picturesque and nicely laid out. We were impressed by our 1 bedroom unit which provided a full kitchen/dining area next to a living room area complete with TV and electric fireplace in the corner just before the stairwell leading to the upstairs bedroom. The bedroom (king size) encompassed the full upstairs area with a full closet, TV and washer/dryer unit. Both floors had washroom with a shower unit downstairs off the kitchen and a tub/shower unit upstairs as well as outside decks for both lower and upper viewings of Calabogie Lake. There were a variety of buildings on the property from one level to three level. A restaurant was located adjacent to the main reception building, but only take-out was available at the time. A grocery store/ gas pumps were just off the property. Plenty of opportunity for hiking, walking, biking and ATV usage.

My family stayed here for new years eve. Called the restaurant for a table. Sorry booked solid all night. Walked down to find tumble weeds rolling through the place. They accommodated us lol. The food was average at best.
The pool was okay. Kids liked it.
The room was pretty large and had netflix. This was a positive. A suggestion for management though. Please remove the mouse traps and aunt traps in the kitchen prior to guest arrival. Absolutely disgusting. If you have mice, take care of the issue before guests check in. Or were you hoping that my kids woke up to dead mice squished in your traps? Let's just say, that did not sit well with the little ones. We also found a dead bug (unknown what) in the bathroom.
We called after our stay to let management know our thoughts, since they have signs everywhere telling you to do so ( they will make it right ) . Offered us 10 percent off our next stay. I dont think so.
Might be a better location in the summer. Not sure. We wont be back.

We appreciate receiving feedback from your recent overnight stay at the Resort. At your request for compensation, we gladly offered you 10% off your next stay with us. You feel the discount provided by Management & the Member Services Dept for the issue in the villa was not sufficient, although we feel this is fair compensation. We take all negative reviews seriously and it does concern us when guests have an unhappy experience, but sometimes we are unable to make things right as you had hoped. We hope you change your mind and visit us again, as the offer is valid for one year. We do understand if you decide against returning.

For the cost of the lodge and the pictures we expected much more. We had a 2 bedroom suite and one bathroom had mold growing on the ceiling and the shower was not cleaned properly. The kitchen was missing towels, soap and the garbage had not been changed properly either. We were told a team of cleaners come in to clean the units but cobwebs and mold does not grow over night. They gave a $50 credit and offered 10% off our next stay. We will not be returning to say the least. The pool is wonderful but timed for adults and children to go in. We showed up 3 minutes early at 10 am for the kids to get changed and a women sternly and rudely told us to get out it was not our time. Disappointment to say the least.

We appreciate receiving feedback from your recent overnight stay at the Resort. Since you checked in late in the evening you did not have the opportunity to enjoy the resort\area to the fullest. Had we known of your dissatisfaction with your unit before your overnight stay we would have gladly moved you to another unit or fixed the deficiencies in your unit. In regards to the rudeness of the other guests this is again unfortunate but is out of our control. Unfortunately, you feel the discount provided at check out and the offer from our Member Services Dept was not sufficient although we feel is fair compensation. We take all negative reviews seriously and the owner of the Resort has made several attempts to contact you using the information you provided but has had no success in reaching you. We hope you change your mind and visit us again but understand if you decide against returning. It pains us when guests have unhappy experiences at the Lodge but sometimes life doesn't work out exactly as you had hoped.

Our family loves Calabogie Lodge. All units have great views of the lake and its clean and relaxing with ultracomfy king size beds in all the master bedrooms. Internet is free and blazing fast. Our kids love the pool and games room and the fitness room is well equipped. Staff are all courteous with excellent customer service. We will return.

We stayed in the Calabogie Lodge resort in September of 2020. The place is amazing and we immediately fell in love with it! The property is well maintained and situated on the beautiful lake. The staff is friendly and very helpful, the food in the restaurant is delicious and inexpensive. The Calabogie Brewery is within walking distance and the Ski Peak is less than 5 minutes away! There are nice hiking trails close by and several beautiful towns within half an hour drive! We strongly recommend this place and will for sure come again!

We visited this resort recently during the COVID-19 pandemic. We exchanged in through RCI. After reading all the positive reviews we were excited to visit. We had a one bedroom suite which was average at best. The furniture is so old that if you are not careful you will slide off the couch. The plumbing in the shower are very loose and can be pulled from the wall. The carpets are old and stained. Some of the unit has been upgraded (I. È. Kitchen). But, most of the rest needs a reno. The cleaning staff does a decent job of cleaning and sanitizing the units. But, we would suggest you also do your own upon arrival.
The view is beautiful as you look out at the lake from all rooms.
The protocols for the Corona Virus pandemic are in place.
We were charged a $100 resort fee even though we did not use these facilities. We ended up leaving a day early mostly due to weather. But, also wanting to get back to our home for comfort. We asked if they could reduce some of the resort fee, but they did not respond whatsoever to our request.
It seems that you exchange in from RCI you get the worst of the worst.
It's sad to see this resort not putting forth a better effort as they do have a beautiful quiet secluded resort with great scenery.

Thank you for your review and we are trying to investigate which unit you were in so that we can fix the deficiencies you noted (carpet stain, old furniture and loose plumbing). It is always helpful to bring deficiencies to our attention during your stay so we can move you to another unit or fix. We would like to clarify that there are no 'designated RCI units' used only for exchanges that are the ‘worst of the worst’. Our 43 units provide accommodations to RCI exchanges, renters and owners as requested\available. In regards to the resort fee this is communicated to you at time of booking this information, is located on the RCI booking page under RCI urgent information; mandatory fees, it is very transparent prior to confirming an exchange through RCI. The RCI exchange resort fee is for resort amenities (exercise room, high speed internet, games room, in season watercraft) that are free to use for all guests and it is not practical for us to monitor which guests use which amenities in order to moderate the resort fee. We appreciate your information and are presently investigating your concerns based on the information you provided. Unfortunately, we do not have the unit or time frame you occupied. Contacting our Member Services Department directly will allow us to make things right. 613-775-0544 ext: 301 Thank You,

It was our second time staying at Calabogie Lodge Resort, both times during covid, first time in November 2020, second time Christmas week 2021.
We arrived on Dec 25 so reception was closed. A sheet posted on the door told us our unit number. Our unit was unlocked on arrival and we didn't get the keys until we officially checked in the next morning. That was a bit frustrating as we felt we couldn't leave the unit at all that night unless we were willing to leave the door unlocked even if all our possessions were now in the unit. As we had prepared for all stores and restaurants to be closed for Christmas, we had brought our own groceries for that first night and that was a good decision.
The units are spacious with plenty of seating in the living room. The "kids" room has two separate beds, perfect for teenagers who do not want to share their bed. The kitchen has all the equipment you need. It would be nice to have a few more plates and cutlery items to avoid having to load and start the dishwasher every single day of the stay. There was no housekeeping or change of towels because of covid. Not a big issue for us.
Swimming pool, gym and game room access is on a reservation system which works well by contacting reception. During our first stay, the pool was reserved to a single family per 30 min slot. This time, you could have up to 12 people reserving the same 30 min slot. If you end up sharing your 30 min with loud/active/obnoxious people, it can be quite an unpleasant experience. I much prefer the version where it is a single family unit per timeslot. The game room was not very popular during our stay so we got to enjoy it multiple times. It costs $1 or $1.50 to play the air hockey and pool table. The rest (chess, board games) is free. Reception can make some change. The gym has good equipment and was clearly underused. The on-site restaurant was closed for most of our stay and was all booked up for Dec 31 so we were unable to try it this time. We ate at Redneck Café, the Calabogie brewery, the Calabogie pizzeria, the Canthooks restaurant at the ski mountain and went to Renfrew a couple of times (really liked Rocky Mountain House). The LCBO and Charbonneau convenience store (with reasonably-priced gas) are within walking distance. You can find all the basics at Charbonneau although if you are looking for specific brands or products, you may need to go to the Metro in Renfrew (25 min drive) which has everything you need. We really enjoyed our stay.

We had a great relaxing holiday. Beautiful surroundings, great view from unit and awesome bed. Mattress was super comfy, it was a king size Simmons Beautyrest pillow top . We were so inspired by the quality of the mattress that we had to purchase a new mattress coming home from this trip!
Location of resort is an easy drive to Ottawa, so we could make day trips for shopping and sight seeing in Ottawa.
Of course this being the pandemic period, we didn't get to see much in Ottawa as museums require advance purchase of tickers to enter, something we did not know. The Byward market was also nothing like what it was pre-pandemic
We ended mostly vegetating and cooking our own meals in our unit at the resort. Our only complaint was the lack of upkeep on the kitchen utensils. Some of the knives were rusty and there weren't any ladles. We had to scoop soup with tea cups!
Other then that, we really enjoyed our stay. All safety protocols were observed....we had a contactless check in and a very easy check out.

As far as I know there are no pets allowed.
The kitchens are full of every appliance you could need-range with oven, microwave, full size refrigerator and all dishes and cooking items. Plus outside grills are very nice, my husband said "Cadillac". We even had apartment size washer and dryer at no cost in our unit. Truly a wonderful place on a gorgeous lake.
Hello,
Yes, Jocko's have small fishing boats and Urban Sport rents waves & pontoons etc....both located close to the Resort.
