This is our breakfast set-up. Note the attention to details - several plates, multiple jams, butter and margarine. But the breakfast itself? Amazing baked eggs with bacon, homemade muffins (they ground gluten-free oats to make the flour to ensure they were good gluten-free muffins - who does that?)!

It was chance and Hurricane Fiona that led us to the Rosedale Manor in Placentia. We stayed for 3 nights while waiting for our rescheduled Ferry crossing from Argentia to North Sydney. The delay turned out to be one of the highlights of our 3 week trip to Newfoundland.
Chris and Lori are the hosts of a beautiful heritage home. Their family home is located on the same street so they were in and out frequently during the course of our stay. There are two rooms on the ground floor and two larger suites on the second floor. All are beautifully kept and decorated with the small details that make a house a home. Care and attention shows in every detail from hand made soaps and ‘treat’ baskets in the rooms to fresh flowers throughout the house. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed while still providing an elegant and luxurious stay; exactly the vibe you want when on vacation.
Best of all is the pride and joy that Lori and Chris take in their community. The area is rich in history and is one of the first settled in North America. As a member of the local historical society and as an extraordinary story teller, Chris will bring this history to life for you while Lori, who has lived all her life in the area, gives authenticity to the modern culture of this unique province. Together they are wonderful ambassadors for this charming community. Chris and Lori, Rosedale Manor and the local area will not disappoint. One night is not enough!

Out of the several different places we stayed at in Newfoundland on our August 2022 road trip. Our night at the Rosedale Manor was by far our favorite. The Bed and Breakfast itself is absolutely fantastic and is in an immaculate preserved historic home but the real winner of our stay were the hosts themselves. Chris and Lori executed true, 1st class Newfoundland hospitality and set the bar at a very high level. They took of every little detail to accommodate their guests from the personal notes and complimentary snacks to the amazing artwork on the walls all done by Chris, homemade soaps in the bathrooms, every room given a name and a story behind it. They set us up for a little evening on the beach and shared their beach chairs, and firewood. The breakfast was award winning in my opinion, especially you would have things like homemade partidgeberry jam made homemade by Lori's mother. Right across the street you have a beautiful river and up the hill from there you will find Castle Hill historic site where Chris works his 2nd job. A great way to see and understand the French influence of the area. I would confidently highly encourage anyone coming through the area to spend at least a night or more at the Rosedale. You will definitely be glad you did.

The best ever stay at such owner-run home style inn. The couple-owners,Chris and Lori, they live a few doors away so they are always there to take care of you. The inn may be the best preserved and renovated 19th century building in the unique landscape. The nostalgic tourists and home lovers will remember their stay there for a long long time.

We stayed in the rose suite, it was wonderful, Very well appointed kitchenette. Fully functional with french press, kettle coffee pot, microwave, toaster, with full fridge and freezer ( you could comfortably stay in this room for a week or more) . Comfortable bed, with tradtional homemade quilt. warm and cozy. Bathroom was spotless and room was exceptionally clean. Yummy breakfast with fresh muffin, yogurt, bagels, fruit, cheese, juice and snacks in the room. Great history in the area ....ask the owners, you will be amazed. Original artwork on the walls, I would have loved to have seen a price list. One night wasn't enough!

What a wonderful two night stay here. Our hosts, Chris and Lori, were kind and thoughtful and you could see all the small touches in this B&B. A personalized handwritten welcome card, a comfortable bed with clean, soft linen, snacks in a basket in the room and a kitchenette with milk in the fridge for coffee (ground coffee, too)!

Soon after our arrival, Chris gave us and a couple from Georgia (USA) a tour of the church and O'Reilly Museum - we were the richer for it! And the breakfasts. The breakfasts! A basket filled with goodies - baked eggs wrapped in bacon with fresh croissants the first morning and a boiled egg, bread and sausages the next - along with muffins, juice, homemade jams.

You felt at home here wanting to stay longer...

Christopher and Lori thought of all the amenities for this beautiful B&B. We had self check-in and when we walked into our room there was a welcome basket full of treats and a personalized note. The room was large, clean and the bed comfy. Had our own washroom too. The inn is full of awesome artwork…by Christopher who is very talented. Breakfast was at 8am and we were treated to a basket filled with a hot bacon and egg round, bagels, homemade muffins(so yummy I asked for the recipe), yogurt, cheese, kiwi, homemade jam and orange juice. Coffee was available. We ended up taking most of it for our lunch that day. This location is also great if you are taking the ferry to/from Argentia. The owners are new and are more than happy to answer any questions you may have. They really care about making a success of this inn and we highly recommend it.

Located conveniently right by the water with a great long boardwalk in the middle of the town of Placentia. This B&B is well maintained. The place is tastefully decorated with many colorful paintings of NL nature and landscape. The chinaware, cutlery, coffee pot and other kitchen accessories are all of very high quality. Great bed coverings and comfy pillows. Breakfast is delivered to your door of your room, nicely packaged with hot pot of coffee in addition to the coffee machine in the room. The rooms or suites are of good sizes. We stayed in the Lupine Suite that gave a good view out into the water and beyond. Love it. Would go again. Highly recommended. Conveniently located to eating venues and scenic spots like the Castle Hill Historic Site and en route to Cape St. Marys or Cape shore towns like Branch and St. Bride.

We booked a night at the Rosedale so that we could do some hiking in the area with friends and we got SO much more than we expected!! It was a perfect base for a few of us couples to relax and explore the area together.

The entire house was immaculate and beautifully decorated with Chris' artwork and Lori's special touches throughout. Between the fresh flowers in every room, gleaming hardwood, antiques, filling breakfast, fish pond and garden, and the quilts on the beds, I can't choose just one feature that stood out!!

Lori and Chris were exceptional hosts who have obviously put their hearts and souls into this peaceful retreat. We will be back!

This Bed and Breakfast is a real gem. Chris is the most gracious host, with incredible local knowledge of the area, which he shares with his guests. Lori makes a wonderful breakfast, which we enjoyed in our suite, with the most pleasing view of he water, which flows by in front. We would recommend them to everyone.

My wife and I stayed with Chris and Lori at the first of June. You could not meet a nicer couple. They are so welcoming and charming. The manor is recently renovated and is fabulous. The breakfasts are so good they will make you want to get up early in the morning. Homemade jams, muffins, fresh coffee make a great start to the day. The artwork in the manor is spectacular and all done by Chris. Chris and Lori are knowledgable about the local area and love sharing the local history which is very interesting . Visit the fort and you may be lucky and have Chris as your tour guide! Allergy restrictions are not a problem, Chris and Lori's family have experience dealing with food allergies.
We will be back.
Tip: see if you can find Chris and Lori in one of the paintings in the front room.
