No pretentious. An honest hotel and local bar that provides good food. What more can you want? Everyone is welcoming and so have no concern about booking in here. The owner, Stuart, is very engaging and provides all help, that you may need.

Lunched here as a group of 4 during the week and the place was pretty empty. Had a nice window seat and drinks and menus were brought fairly promptly to the table. 2 of us had gammon steaks (large, thick and cooked to juicy perfection, 1 had a vegetarian dish which looked tasty and 1 had the pie of the...

Nice enough place, food and service definitely not so. We visited on Friday 31st October 2014. We were asked if we would like drinks, which we did and requested a pot of tea and a bottle of Kopperberg with a glass without ice. The cider came back WITH ice, no big deal and was easily rectified. When asked if we...

Sorry your experience seemed so unpleasant it was worth reviewing on Tripadvisor. Thanks for your comments. I need to clarify the steak pie isn't out of a tin. I'm personally not too sure what that tastes or looks like. It's one of the most popular dishes we sell but clearly not to your taste. I'm not too sure how busy...

My husband and I stayed at The Spinnaker for two nights, Oct. 3 and 4, 2014, a Friday and Saturday. Even though we had a large ensuite room at the front, we found it quiet and had no problem sleeping. We loved the view, which was endlessly fascinating, with all the boat traffic. We felt very much at home. The...

I really do recommend staying at this hotel. The staff are so nice and friendly. The room was lovely and had such a beautiful view across the water. The room was also a lot bigger than it looks in photos. You also get breakfast included in the price and its pretty decent. :)

We stayed overnight here in September 2014 having arrived off the ferry in Cairnryan. We had a lovely ensuite room with a sea view. The breakfast was full scottish with the option of fruit or cereal. The bar in the evening was tended by a very friendly young man who filled us in on all the local history.

My wife and I had a short break from 21st Sept 2014 at this well kept, very friendly, hotel. It was our second visit, having stayed over New Year a couple of years ago. We had a room at the front with excellent views (the weather was wonderful). The food, including breakfast, is excellent, with a good choice. The Ale...

We stayed at The Spinnaker Hotel as going to Bute the following day. It was a typical pub. Room was OK although we were over the pump area for the pub so a little disturbed night's sleep. Food was good, although service was very slow. We were warned about this, so prepared! Very busy restaurant.

Thanks for the review. Sorry service was slow. I hope it's because the hotel was busy. The rooms at the rear of the hotel avoid the noise from any evening traffic but are unfortunately closer to the storage areas which do have a cooler unit that goes on/off based on temperature. I need to remember to tell guests if it...

Popped in during the week for a drink which was great so decided to book for lunch. The food was really good, I can totally recommend the pie of the day dish. The menu has a good choice and very good prices. We had a lovely meal with great service lots of smiles.
