We loved the Balkaya!!!! This is a lovely family run hotel, a few roads back from the main Ovacik road, (behind Monta Verdi). It takes roughly 3 mins to walk up to the main road where you can get the dolomus and find the restaurants and shops. You can walk into Hisaronu via the main road which takes roughly 15-20 mins, but if you turn left as you leave the hotel and continue straight along the dirt track past AES club hotel, you can walk a more direct route that will take a good 5 mins off and brings you into Hisaronu near the market place. The hotel has 2 blocks the main part which features the reception etc and a separate bedroom block. It has a large pool, which is well kept and it gets the sun most of the day. The sun beds are around the pool and have the comfy foam type toppers. There is an outside bar and eating area, along with 2 gazebo huts with cushioned seating. WiFi is in the bar area/ reception only, but we found it to be consistent and even managed to get it in some areas around the pool. The rooms are basic with a small balcony, so no fridge or tea making facilities. ( but these are free 24/7 in the bar area) If you want air con it is £30 per week and a safe is £10 (in main building) although basic the rooms are well kept and we always had hot water for showers. (Due to Covid the rooms are not cleaned daily, but should you need anything doing then just ask and it will be sorted) we slept well apart from the local cockerels that seem to be in completion as to who can make the most noise the earliest. (Funny but you just get used to them as you’re going home! (Be warned and take some ear plugs.) On each level there are sanitising stations along with others dotted around the hotel. Social distancing is adhered to wherever possible and all the waiters/ chefs wear masks at all times. This hotel offers All Inclusive, which I personally think should be described as Full board and here are my reasons why. The meal times are set (2 hour windows) and there is nothing free offered in between. All the food is Turkish based, breakfast is buffet style as is the evening meal, but there are only limited choices one of which is hot. Omelettes and pancakes are my fresh by the chef each morning. For the midday meal one of the waiters will tell you what the dish is for that day, your meal is served plated up and you are told when it is ready and you take your place at the tables. There is an extra menu of things like burgers & chips etc, but this not part of the AI. All the food we had was lovely and well presented, we throughly enjoyed the desert selection each night and have tried many new Turkish dishes. Alcoholic drinks are from 10am-10pm, there is only 1 beer, local wines & spirits. Also all mixers are full fat, so no diet/lite. Again there are other beer etc, but these are not part of the AI. The bar does stay open after 10pm, but as I never stayed up this late drinking I’m not sure of the prices. All in all this is a great hotel that is very competitively priced. However If you want a hotel where the restaurant is open 24/7 with chips or roast then this is not for you, but if you want a real bit of Turkish hospitality then book it. Balkaya has many guest that return year on year and I can see why, we would happily return again.

If you want 5* luxury this is not for you however if you want a great family run hotel with personality then this little gem is for you.Soloman (owner), Mama, Ramsay, Mohammed, Erin & Mustafa cannot do enough to make your stay as fun filled and full of laughter. Food is very traditional however you have only to ask for something else and if they can they will accommodate. Next season this hotel ( depending on Covid-19) will be one of the best choices in Turkey. . Bingo (never laughed as much), Karaoke, traditional dancing, cheap for drinks after AI finishes.. WiFi not bad, . I can’t wait to book again. One of my favourite holidays ever. Miss you guys/gals 🤗

We've just come home today after 10nights here. Solomon owner , Ramsey, Eren and Mani excellent staff and family run hotel. So helpful, clean and friendly hotel, would go back. The food can be great, we did eat out a bit too. Food is Turkish but your in Turkey so it should be, try it all. You can ask for omlettes and salads for breakfast and lunches. Great service, would definitely go back. Clean rooms, WiFi ok, air con is worth paying for. All Inclusive stops at 10pm, would-be better later our option. Was safe and clean in the COVID situation. Thanks, see you all soon. Arran & Nicola
