We had a nice stay. The owner was very pleasant. The room was on the smaller side but adequate and had a queen bed, micro/frige, flat screen tv and free wi-fi that worked very well. It is a basic accommodation but was clean and the beds were comfortable. I would stay here again.

Stopped at this old-timey motel while traveling from Southern CA to Northern NV. The rooms have been renovated and they are clean, basic and inexpensive. The owner is a really nice person. Views of the Sierra are fabulous. Would be a nice home base between camping adventures or any adventures in the Eastern Sierras.

I was planning a hike from the Onion Valley trailhead near Independence and was hoping to stay locally. I emailed the owner, Jim, a couple of days ahead and despite the fact I think he was winding down at the end of the season, he was good enough to reserve me a room. I arrived in early evening and was...

Really like this charming little motel. Rooms are small but comfy and clean. Bathroom was especially nice with all new fixtures and tile. Owner Jim is a very friendly guy and gave us tips on where to eat and what to do. Free wifi, flat screen TV, microwave and refrigerator. Nice patio and chairs for admiring the view. Finally, incredibly...

Jim is the proprietor of this small motel on the south side of town, east side of the highway. There is no pool here and I believe there are only about 6 rooms. Jim is a great guy and very helpful. Although I would say this motel is geared for hikers, it is good for all who like this sort...

We managed to get the last room. The room was excellent, everything worked in the room, the bathroom was well presented and very clean. The Manager Jim was very helpful, he even offered breakfast in the morning from 0700 which was very nice. He has sure done a great job on the hotel & the rose garden looks great. We...

We stayed in room 2 but our family also had room 1. The window AC in our room didn't do too well combating the 100 degree heat but the AC in #1 was simply amazing. This place was great and Jim was extremely helpful. It was a bargain compared to places in Lone Pine and if you can get room...

Tiny motel but super clean and great host Jim. Breathtaking views of mountains. Interesting conversations with backpackers just off the mountains. Limited food availability. We stayed for 2nights and Subway first night and microwave meal the second..!! There is a bigger town about 15miles away or a gas station to pick up supplies less than 1 block away if you...

After coming down off Mt Whitney I stayed at this little motel. Super cute. Super clean. And Jim, the inn keeper, was nice and friendly. There isn't much in Independence but if you need to stop somewhere I recommend this motel. The air conditioner cooled the room down fast, it was July. The bed was comfy and the pillows great....

We took a road trip July 2016 along the 395, stopped in Independence for the night. So glad we found this gem! Jim, is a great guy, he clearly loves his job. The rooms were clean, stocked, and breakfast was just right. This wasn't the biggest or the nicest hotel room we have ever stayed in, but it is the...
