The Omni Richmond Hotel comes highly recommended for its spotless rooms and commendable housekeeping, though occasional delays are noted. Guests are charmed by the welcoming atmosphere, complete with cozy lobby fireplace and personalized room decorations for special occasions. Its prime location garners praise for easy access to local attractions and dining. While the rooms are generally spacious and comfortable, some visitors report noise and maintenance issues. The hotel staff receives accolades for their professionalism and attentiveness, despite occasional service inconsistencies. Amenities meet guest expectations; however, concerns are raised over limited dining choices and high parking fees, leading some to question the overall value.

In Richmond to celebrate my husband’s 85th birthday and the staff made such a great effort to make it special for him. From room decorations to yummy red velvet cake sent to the room to professional and very hospitable staff. We had not stayed at this Omni in quite some time, but the room renovation and comfortable bed and housekeeping had done a great job on our room being so clean ….all the improvements made our stay so very nice.

Check in on a Sunday was spot on. The valet parking was so helpful in getting us unloaded and having arrived earlier than expected in the day our room was ready and decorated so lovely for his birthday celebration. The front desk upon check in was so welcoming and helpful with directions to our planned activity for the day.

Check out was flawless with Lee Ann (sp.) and then valet was so helpful and professional in bringing our car and loading our luggage.

We had such a great time at this Omni. So welcoming and the location was perfect as we could walk to the Riverfront Canal Cruise even on a cool day with rain showers at times. And as we were to exit were offered umbrellas to take with us. Again, the hospitality was so appreciated and thank you again and we will definitely be back to visit again.

I stayed here 13 years ago on a guy's weekend away. My wife and I stayed this past weekend for our anniversary night away and were ecstatic to do so. The property has only gotten better, and the service is still second to none. Thanks to Chantaye (sp?) and Kent at the front desk, as well as Christian and Wayne at the valet stand for making our stay even better.

The service at this hotel is outstanding. Staff was cleaning the lobby as we checked in. Each time we came downstairs, they were cleaning. Our room, was #722 and was a king deluxe. Spotless, amazingly comfortable, welcoming and quiet. The view from the room wasn't bad either, facing the city and the State Capitol just two blocks north. Our room was extremely large, with a huge flat screen tv, comfy linens with huge puffy pillows. The bathroom was huge as well, large rain shower with a roomy tub also. All of the standard extras in the bathroom, toiletries that smelled great and plenty of room for two people to be in there at once. We were at the end of a hallway, far enough away from the elevators so it was quiet, not hearing traffic from the hallway. Valet parking was $30 for overnight. When you drop your car in the circle, they send you a text. Whenever you're ready to get your car, just click the link and shortly thereafter, you're good to go. Valets were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. A pleasure to deal with them.

The hotel is within walking distance to Shockoe Slip and Shockoe Bottom home to tons of shops, cafes, eateries, markets and more. Minutes away as well from Canal Walk and the James River. Two blocks south of the State Capitol. We literally walked everywhere and we happy to do so. The weather was spectacular and made our stay even more enjoyable. We didn't go in, but there is a Starbucks in the lobby of the hotel as well.

Overall, just a fantastic experience. Would return again and again. With service as we experienced, along with a gorgeous room, I would highly recommend the Omni Richmond Hotel to anyone staying in Virginia's capital.

This hotel has been a complete failure from the start. Very disappointing for $219/night. When we pulled in, we learned that the hotel only has one charger for electric vehicles, and in order to have access to it, we had to pay for valet service. In addition, we were told that with six cars ahead of us, they can’t guarantee that our car will get charged. I’m sorry, but for what is touted as a modern, luxury hotel, they should have more than one measly charger. There are a pretty sizeable number of people increasingly moving to EVs, so come on.

The hotel’s website says “there are electric charging stations onsite at Omni Richmond Richmond.” Management needs to make the word “single” singular, and not give off the impression that charging stations are plentiful.

So, we give the valet our car and enter. Very underwhelming. Spacious but extremely aged, and there were multiple pieces of large black debris on the floor.

Check-in was ok. We get to our room, and my husband, who is definitely not one for details and is generally not too observant, noticed hair all over the bathroom. It started with seeing one on the floor, then he noticed more and more strands of hair on the towels, etc. we told the front we needed another room. Their demeanor about it was ok and they did apologize and said they were going to consult with housekeeping and/or send them up. The room also smelled weird, kind of similar to a sour scent you get when you enter a space with aged carpet. Our second room just a few doors down was only minimally better. We didn’t catch it until showering, but multiple strands of medium length brown hair in this bathroom too. Besides the hair, one of the USB ports on the alarm clock doesn’t seem to work, the pillowcases are wrinkled, the carpet is not as clean as it could be, and overall it’s just a sucky feeling. When we came back from dinner and asked the front desk for our complimentary water, the woman who got it for us had the biggest attitude ever. How about you find another job if you don’t like people and are going to act like that. Sorry we would like a bottle of your cheap Nestle water. Sorry for even daring to bother you, dear employee.

Our friends staying on another floor had an empty shampoo bottle. So housekeeping is not even on top of that? And we’re being charged $150 for our dog when they can’t keep their own facilities sanitary?

I can’t wait to check out and would never recommend this hotel under any circumstances to anyone. Might as well have saved some money and stayed somewhere cheaper.

The hotel was well aware that they’d have a surge of guests for the Richmond marathon, but I guess they really just didn’t care.

This hotel obviously is struggling to make it in a tough market. All the staff we met were friendly and pleasant, but overall if you're looking for a modern property with all the expected frills, this isn't it. I thought Omni properties were pretty upscale, like the Omni Grove Park Inn in my home town, but obviously in the case of Richmond this isn't the case.

On the plus side, our room had been redone fairly recently with new carpet and such. The TV had a weird selection of channels, but otherwise it was very nice.

Big issues:

Downtown Richmond is a ghost town, at least at times the legislature isn't in session. There are huge parking lots and garages with literally just five or six cars in them. The streets are deserted. The few high rise buildings seem mostly empty. Whole streets of stores are boarded up, and those businesses that are open seem to be mostly pawn shops and nail salons. Most of the downtown restaurants recommended by the hotel and the convention center were either closed permanently or open only for lunch. Richmond does have a nice convention center, but what do people who go to conferences and conventions in Richmond actually do after hours?

We were there five nights, and it wasn't until the fourth day that anyone came in to clean up our room. We had to keep asking for someone to empty garbage and so forth. Finally, by visiting the front desk we got it done, and the staff was gracious to call and tell us it was done.

The Omni really doesn't have a restaurant worthy of the name. There's the Tavern, which is more of a place to grab a beer. There's also the Porch, for a quick breakfast, which is just tables out in the middle of the James complex, across from a bank. You're better off grabbing a coffee and a pastry at the Starbucks in the lobby. Whether true or not, we were told this is the only full-service Starbucks in downtown Richmond.

The hotel doesn't really have room service. Oh, you can now call and order a few items, but they're delivered in a takeout plastic box in a paper bag.

Little things:

In a city that seems to have more big, empty parking garages than any place I've been recently, the Omni charges $35 a night for self parking and $38 a night for valet. Ridiculous!

The bathtub and bathroom has no grab bars. Nada.

Bottom line: Virginia is a great state with a lot to see, but let me tell you: It's not in downtown Richmond.

Dear LanSluderBelize, I would like to sincerely apologize that the Omni Richmond, and the city itself was a disappointment during your stay! While our city has made some tremendous strides in bouncing back from the pandemic, it does still have a long way to go in getting back to "normal". I am, however, happy to hear our staff members your interacted with were friendly and pleasant. Hopefully if you ever return to Richmond, you will give us another shot to exceed your expectations! I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The woman at the front desk was had such a bad attitude and spoke very condescending to me. When my family and I went downstairs to the restaurant, bar tender kept picking up the fruit for our drinks with his bare hands after touching money, etc. And the room wasn't a nice and clean as I thought it would be. The best about this hotel was the valets. Never coming back to this hotel. This place is a far cry from the RITZ in Tysons Corner.

During horrendous trip on I-64 from Staunton during snowstorm called 800 number google listed as booking concierge for all hotels in Richmond (Expedia) booked $270 room here. When we arrived, evening desk clerk recommended restaurant in hotel for dinner - it was closed before 7pm which he didn't know. After practically begging him to do so, he tried several restaurants which were all closed. He sugessted hot dog place that had good dogs and fries. We ended up with pizza delivery. When we awoke we tried speed dial buttons on room phone for "Concierge" "Guest Services" and "Front desk" which all connected to central voice answering ( "Push 1 for reservation" Push 2 for billing" etc.) We discovered that no breakfast was available at hotel either room service or restaurant, and the morning desk clerk recommended a nearby Irish Pub might have breakfast?? (Bangers & Mash?) Room was clean and had good towels so Kudos to housekeeping. Forget about service or even helpful staff. Best value turned out to be valet parking provided by sub contracted parking company. Valet was extremely helpful, loaded bags for us and was polite and personable. Pizza take out place Picola's Provided Salads, pasta, great meatballs and cheesy garlic bread and even delivered two bottles of wine! Don't waste your money on a stay here at this "luxury" hotel, rooms are nice and clean and they have good towels, but the same may be said for many chain motels at less than 1/2 the price - and their desk clerks are better informed and willing to help their guests.

I opted for the Bed & Breakfast and Valet add ons. Breakfast food menu = many items to choose from and all were delicious. I LOVED our spacious King Suite!! The location was great so we walked to many of our sites. Absolutely friendly and helpful staff!! Our breakfast waiter (same one for three mornings), told us the hotel shuttle would take/pick us up within five miles, so we did use that 4-5 times. I have never stayed in a nicer hotel in the states. I will always be looking for another Omni to stay at in the future, now that I know what I have been missing!!!

I’m appreciative of the front desk staff and housekeeping. When an extra robe and regular coffees with creamers were requested, these items were promptly delivered.
The hotel restaurant offered a tasty breakfast on day 1even though it was not efficiently run. No host was present for seating guests. One server in passing said to sit down. Then after an extended time a trip had to be made to flag down staff to ask for a server although the manager and two servers were on the floor. The space is too small to be overlooked and not a whole lot of guests were present. As we had purchased the breakfast package, we returned the next morning. No greeter was there when we arrived and lights were off in the dining room. We saw 3 guests from our organization on the outside dining table. Stepping outside was COLD! The young server said dining room was closed until the evening. I asked for the manager on duty to make an assessment of the outdoor weather conditions. Jess came and said that we could sit in a corner of the outdoor space. My husband declined and we went across to Starbucks. While we were eating at Starbucks, we observed the lights come on and white guests sitting inside! Judgment and preferences are evidenced.

The Omni hotel in downtown Richmond is situated well within walking distance of the canal walk and an easy walk to Capital Square. It looks like a new hotel. Everything is pristine. That said I was disappointed by the pool on the 3rd floor that has an outdoor porch. It was not as clean as I would have expected and some patrons were cleaning out the debris with a net. The house staff won’t clean your room unless you make the request and the expensive Keurig coffee machine In the room didn’t work which was disappointing. The Starbucks downstairs has limited hours but it appears the hotel is popular and hosts many events. For a downtown hotel with pool they honored AAA rate and if you have a car that will cost extra to valet park. I’m not sorry I stayed here but was disappointed by a few things that a posh hotel should have done better.

We walked quite a bit even at night and felt very safe in that area. We had our car so not sure of taxi or uber. We stayed at the Omni and they offered a shuttle within a few miles of the hotel.
