The Richmond Marriott garners accolades for its exceptional service, with guests frequently lauding the amicable staff and the attentive M Club. Its prime location near the convention center and local dining options also stands out in traveler reviews. Cleanliness is another strong suit, with the hotel's pristine condition often highlighted. Although the rooms are celebrated for their comfort, some guests have noted soundproofing issues. The atmosphere is described as welcoming, adding to the appeal, although opinions on value and food pricing are mixed. Amenities generally receive praise, though a few oversights have been mentioned.

My wife and I chose to stop overnight in Richmond Virginia because it was the halfway point on our drive back home from Fort Lauderdale to Montreal. Are we ever glad we did! Not only did we discover this charming city, but we also got to enjoy this gem of a hotel! From our very first interaction with the young valet who offered us self-parking options with no pressure to leave our car for him to park, to the very warm reception we received from David and his team at front desk, it was a wonderful experience! The above-ground interior multi-level parking behind the hotel connects to the hotel lobby via a glass passageway and is more than reasonable at $8 per night. The hotel lobby is magnificent with an open concept, integrating the bar, lounge, restaurant and M Club. The room was perfect! Spacious with comfortable mattresses and blackout curtains. The water pressure was excellent and the AC was quiet and very effective, cooling the room to our desired temperature of 66 and maintaining it all night. The TV was very nice and had a great selection of channels. We had a great night’s sleep which is exactly what we needed for the long drive the next day. And to top it all off, we were thoroughly spoiled and entertained by our hostess in the M Club the next morning! My wife and I arrived for breakfast a few minutes early while Anna was putting her finishing touches on the beautiful breakfast spread and not only did she make us feel comfortable but she even sang good morning to us! She proceeded to delight us with her cheerful and bubbly personality and got our day off to an excellent start. The food was delicious too! Overall, one of the best experiences we have ever had in a hotel. Congratulations to everyone at the Marriott Richmond for a job well done. With gratitude, Gianna and Frank

clutch the valet was very courteous and provided us with a luggage cart.
Eugene-Front desk personnel was very helpful, friendly and courteous. He even walked us to the elevator.
Mari the room attendant had the room immaculate. The view was amazing. The room/ bathroom supplies shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, mouthwash, qtips, lotion, cotton balls, nice fluffy towels, tea and coffee pods for coffee maker, pull out couch, full length mirror, 4 nice fluffy pillows for each bed, plenty of USB and outlets for all your electronics. A lot of great amenities you normally don't get at other hotels. The room was very spacious. They offer free shuttle 7am to 7pm. There is a $40 charge for parking even though you' are a guest. We didn't get a chance to go to the restaurant but it was very busy. Highly recommend this hotel.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Miss Anna in the M Club is just the BEST! Literally a Mom away from home. As with all hotels, rooms could’ve been more soundproof, to block noise from the street and adjoining / rooms above. Resturant food was ok and way overpriced for the quality / taste. Marriott is also one of the only hotel brands that doesn’t include free breakfast in your room rate, thus not always the best choice in price when booking hotels.

My husband and I wanted to take a quick getaway for the weekend and decided to head to Richmond! We've stayed in the city before but never for leisure, only passing thru. I was able to get us a great rate at the Richmond Marriott on a Saturday and when I tell you it's a great hotel, trust me it's a place I would definitely return to and recommend! Although there were 3 weddings taking place over the weekend, the hotel didn't feel crowded or to busy. Check-in took less than 5 minutes and Anthony was super helpful. He made sure I knew about the in-house restaurant, bar, pool, things to do around town and parking (we did self park vs valet). He was very welcoming and instantly made me feel like I was staying at a 5 star hotel. Later in the evening, my Husband I wanted to order food and drinks but didn't want to sit in the restaurant as our preference was to sit at the bar. Rechal, our bartender at Corner Rapid Bar, gave us great feedback on customer favorites from the Fall Line Kitchen & Bar menu as well as her feedback on various items. The Lump Crab Hushpuppies, Burrata and Truffled Bucatini and Creme Brulee were great! The Bistro Steak and Frites and Iron Skillet Cornbread were ok but I would definitely try something else the next time around. If you find yourself wanting something other than alcohol or wine, definitely try the Step 13 mocktail but replace the sparkling water with ginger beer (Rechal suggested) and you'll see why this drink should be on everyone's menu. All in all, we had a great time in Richmond, and enjoyed our stay at the Richmond Marriott. Prathvi helped us as we were checking out to make sure our bill was accurate and just made us feel welcomed all over again! If you're planning a trip to Richmond, I would highly recommend staying at this property. They definitely set the standard for other hotels in the area.

We have stayed at this hotel MULTIPLE times over the past 8 years and this stay will likely be our last since kids’ sports have come to a close. We will kind of miss it. The Richmond Marriott is our go to hotel when in the area. The front desk is always pleasant and hugely helpful. One time, they arranged for the shuttle to take me to Starbucks 2 miles away since theirs was closed. They have a lobby bar where you can order their own menu or food from the restaurant and be able to congregate in the lobby area with friends who have brought their own food and drink. I have never been at a hotel so supportive of this type of gathering and more should create this set up. The rooms are updated with no bathtub and some rooms have extra space with pullout couches. My only complaint is the double beds (vs queens) since we are tall people and four of us can be quite tight.

For those with status, there is an M Club that is open on the weekends. BONUS! And the hotel has always honored our 4pm late checkout. Along with often doing early checkin at like 1-2pm.

Stay away
Long details below but in summary, elevators didn't work for 3 days, no security, homeless persons roaming through out the hotel, shuttle service does not work consistently.

. The elevator outages caused major issues for us as I had a baby in a stroller and a disabled mother. We traveled for this special event at the convention hall and it was beyond difficult getting to and from the venue. At one point the elevators were 100% down for hours. Returning from the venue we were lucky to have 2 elevators working with a long queue to get up, hoping we wouldn't get stuck. Getting down, the doors weren't closing and at one point we got stuck on every floor until we luckily made it down.
My family was trapped upstairs for about 2 hours until there was a way down.
On 2 occasions, I had to personally escort young girls back to their rooms while the elevators were down as I couldn't let them use the dark stairs alone late at night. 2 to the 5th floor and 2 to the 10th floor. These girls were stranded in the lobby and their parents were in the rooms. How is that even possible? Where were hotel security and staff to ensure the safety of these young children?

2. July 15th, there was no shuttle service nor would anyone pick up the calls. We stayed here for the service and uber was not a viable option as we needed a car seat for uber/ lyft. Nobody knew what was going on in the front desk as we called and asked in person and they said it was running, just call. Again, we got stuck at the hotel. When we did have the shuttle the drive was extremely pleasant but I had to use a lyft home myself and leave my family behind to wait for the return ride; the wait took over an hour and I had an appointment back at the hotel. There was limited Lyft and this incurred additional costs.

3. We found a homeless person roaming on the 5th floor and ended up sleeping on the beach by the elevators. How can I leave my young daughters and mother in the rooms safely with these security issues. I informed the front desk and they addressed it immediately but they even knew who it was. Where was the security?

Hotel Manager offered to make it right but did not follow through after multiple follow ups.

Staying for the weekend, the Richmond Marriott has been a fantastic stay. From check-in and throughout our stay, everyone has been genuinely friendly, cordial, and phenomenal. The M Lounge is spacious and well equipped with snacks and drinks 24 hrs. The breakfast buffet was sufficient with an array of hot and cold items. Even though it was busy in the mornings, staff were quick to clear tables and keep everything supplied and neat and tidy. As others have commented, Ms Anna in the M Lounge is the consummate hostess!
The next time I’ll need accommodations in downtown Richmond, I would not hesitate staying here again.

I've been staying at the Richmond Marriott regularly over the past few months and have consistently been impressed by the exceptional service. Miklos, Valencia, Sana, and the rest of the front desk staff always go out of their way to make my stay comfortable. They have provided useful local recommendations and are very friendly and efficient. Beyond the excellent service at the front desk, the rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel has nice amenities including a well-equipped gym, room service, dry cleaning & washers, efficient valet, and a Starbucks in the lobby.

With excellent service, rooms, amenities, and location, I would highly recommend staying at the Richmond Marriott for anyone visiting for business or leisure.

We had an overnight stay here for a festival nearby. This location is very convenient as it is next to the greater Richmond convention center. It is actually attached to the center which makes it easy to walk across. Valet parking seemed a bit chaotic and there is limited space to move your car when checking in. There are a few walkable restaurants in the area. The bus station is across the street, which makes it easier to commute locally. Additionally, the bus rides are free. The hotel was very clean overall expect a small amount of trash left on our room floor when we arrived. But overall, the bathrooms were clean and the bed very comfortable. The M club lounge provided hot, delicious foods and multiple options of drinks. There’s multiple coffee options, including the machine to makes lattes and cappuccinos. There was always fresh fruit, which was absolutely delicious. The staff especially Anna was very kind and everyone was extremely nice. I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back again.

The Marriott is between.5th and 6th streets. The national is at 7th Street. The walk is very short. But Richmond is not known for being a safe place. I would be very cautious walking anywhere in Downtown Richmomd after dark. If you are attending an event and It is letting out so there is a crowd then it is probably ok but don't dawdle. Walk with purpose to get back to the hotel.
