The place has wow factor without doubt. The façade has a wonderful late 19th century feeling with its soaring towers and white stone surface. Lobby and restaurant equal it, with wonderful stain glass and wood. The room turned out to be up to date, with carpet that looked new, furniture that showed no scratches and a comfortable bed. Bathroom was a room in itself, with marble and large shower with a separate deep tub and a television embedded in the mirror that actually worked. The a/c was whisper quiet. Restaurant food did not disappoint. Very good wine list, excellent red (bell) pepper bisque, well executed crab cake and friendly service. Breakfast was the same. Definitely the smoothie was one of the better hotel-made ones I’d ever had. Place is quiet. Staff friendly and hard working. Well worth the stay.

We loved the Jefferson! The room was plush and comfortable, with a large and lovely marble bathroom. Very quiet which we appreciate. We ordered a cheese plate and bottle of wine from room service, and it was delivered on time and with perfect service. We dined at TJ's for lunch, and it was great. The high point of our stay was dinner at Lemaire. So great! The maids were awesome and the turn-down service was perfect. The car valet service was awesome. One negative comment: I am a tea drinker. At most hotels, you have a complementary coffee and tea situation in the room. At the Jefferson, it was only coffee. I called the concierge and asked for a teapot and tea bags. They sent a teapot but said I had to call room service to get tea bags. So I called room service and they said I would have to pay for tea bags. I called the concierge back and asked why would we get complimentary coffee in the room but not complimentary tea. They did not have a good answer for that, so they sent tea bags up to the room. I thought this was a bit unusual because when we stay at any other hotel, there is always coffee AND tea in the room. We had a chuckle about that. Overall a lovely Hotel, though. We will be back and recommend the Jefferson to all.

We stayed just for one night during the week. The hotel was not busy. When we pulled up we were immediately greeted by a bellman who took our bags while we checked in. We had the choice of valet parking for $15 per day, or self-park at no charge. The parking lot is just across the private street from the entrance so I parked the car myself.
We had a quick check-in process at the front desk. The bellman brought our bags up and introduced us to the room features, including a master light switch and TV integrated into the bathroom mirror.
Although the hotel is 125 years old, it is meticulously maintained. The room had modern conveniences with an antique ambience, including an original mirror frame from 1895.
I ordered room service for breakfast, just yogurt and granola. Typical for hotel room services menus, the prices reflect the convenience and captive audience. They add a $4 room service fee and 20% gratuity, seen in the fine print on the back page.
We did not use the concierge service.
They are following the expected covid protocols, with staff masked and clear barriers up at the reception desk.
One detail that we noticed were air freshener strategically located at several points. They were black foot-tall cylinders with a little straw sticking out, plugged into an outlet. They seemed to spritz out a scent to simulate fresh flowers.
We got good rate due to the weeknight stay on a holiday (it was Labor Day).

The bedroom was amazing and the staff was very friendly and helpful. As we were sitting waiting, one of the staff brought us a bottle of water which has never happened in some of the nicer hotels we've stayed in. We received an upgrade on our room and our view of Richmond was lovely and there were so many exceptional things that were done to make our stay there memorable. The hotel is close to everything downtown and beautifully situated. We were not there long enough to really take in all the history of thie hotel, the building and all of the special rooms that are available.

While a little bit of a splurge for us (not too bad), this was worth every penny. The room was enormous and thoughtfully furnished, right down to the tv in the bathroom mirror which can be viewed from the soaking tub!! The breakfasts were wonderful, the bar was so friendly to two senior women ("Welcome back!") and every staff member with whom we interacted was genuinely friendly and helpful. I am sorry that I don't have everyone's names; but Grayson and William at the Concierge Desk were patient and charming; and Scott, our shuttle driver, took good care of us and was diligent in making sure he took us to the best possible location for our river cruise. I cannot wait to return here: an elegant and friendly and service-minded hotel.

Opened in 1895, the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia, exudes timeless elegance and classic Southern charm. Upon entering, I was greeted by an opulent lobby, a prelude to the indulgence awaiting upstairs. My room was a sanctuary of comfort-spacious, tastefully decorated, and equipped with ample storage, perfect for a leisurely stay. Every corner of the hotel told a story, from the grand staircase to the intricately designed ceilings, a blend of historical grandeur and modern luxury. Dining at the Jefferson Hotel's restaurant was a delightful experience. Room service was quick and food was very satisfactory. The service was impeccable; every request was met with prompt and courteous attention, making me feel like a valued guest.
However, the hotel's secluded location means it's a bit of a trek to the nearest shops or supermarkets. While the tranquil setting contributes to its allure, it might be a tad inconvenient for those who enjoy having amenities close by.

We came to the Jefferson for Christmas and, unlike other times, were left disappointed by our stay. We realize things are especially busy around the holidays but felt that there was a lack of attentiveness that would have been warranted, especially since we were spending quite a bit for a multi-day stay in one of the more exclusive suites. The first day we asked for glasses to be brought to the room; they never came. Then, we unfortunately, became ill (no fault of the hotel, of course) and called to ask for some extra towels and new sheets to freshen up the room. Several hours passed and nobody came. Then, after another call, the housekeeping team did show up but somehow broken glass shards were left in our room, which is not ideal with little kids and a dog (unclear where this came from). All in all, we were not entirely with the stay.

We stayed at the Jefferson with our two dogs the night before “Dachtoberfest” (Great Event for Doxies and their owners). We spent the entire night in the hotel as the forward edge of Hurricane Ian was making the weather quite unpleasant. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. The Grand Premier King room was spotless. All appliances were in working order and the bathroom was gorgeous with copious high quality amenities and enough towels for a week stay. The mirror also had an integrated TV. Most surprising was the Dinner we ordered from the Room Service menu. The prices were incredibly reasonable for a 5 star hotel and the quality / quantity of the food was outstanding. A great stay.

We had enjoyed Christmas at the Jefferson pre pandemic; and thought is was wonderful. In July we booked our stay, and have been anticipating Christmas again at this magnificent hotel
Our stay was magical! Everyone from the doorman, valet, housekeeping, dining, front desk, gift shop ensured our stay was both relaxing and magical.
The holiday decorations, gingerbread house, put us in the right spirit to enjoy the season.
As magnificent as this historic is, it really is the staff, we met so many staff members many from other countries who gave up their holiday to give us an exceptional stay.
While all the staff were great; there’s one who stands out Bakar who so gracious to us.
Dining at the Lemaire is exceptional, atmosphere, service, the kitchen, the bar, is perfect. Richmond’s best.
Again thanks to the entire staff who made this visit both magical and relaxing

We stayed here for a couple days this past Valentine's Day, and were we delighted! We stayed in a Richmond Suite which was Amazing! This Hotel was sparkling clean, spacious, beautifully regal, and top of the line. All the staff we interacted with were friendly, helpful and professional. We ordered room service often as there are numerous menus that cover 24 hours. The breakfast we ordered both mornings was plentiful, and delicious! We had reservations at Lemaire both days and we enjoyed our meals there immensely. The room was very large, clean, elegant and very comfortable. There is a TV in every room. The bathroom is all white marble with a huge soaking tub, a separate very large shower with glass door, a separate room for water closet and a double sink vanity. The decor is tasteful and comfortable. We had a couple antique fireplaces, but they were inoperable. Life is about beautiful memories, and the Jefferson Hotel did not disappoint. Expect to spend some money, but I assert what we spend was worth every penny. Oh, the bathrobes are very comfy also. We highly recommend if you are celebrating a special occasion. Classly!

I am sure that any meal you have there would be wonderful. I'm not sure but I think you have to pay for parking if you park in their lot but there is quite a lot of residential parking around the hotel. You could certainly call and ask.
