My family has enjoyed this reasonably priced, charming place for two decades It has gracefully improved over the years without changing its identity. There is little luxury here, but ample comfort throughout the house: good beds and bedding, multiple common areas with books (take one!)...More

Thank you for your very kind and thoughtful review. We so appreciate guests who understand the constraints of a small urban guesthouse and appreciate what we do within those constraints.
If we could install and elevator we would all be much happier--housekeeping staff as well...More
Interesting place, with friendly staff and very clean. But lots of little problems. Plastic shower, separated from toilet and sink, and set off from the room by curtains. Sink stopper very hard to close. Toilet paper holder loose and falls to the floor. Bed was...More

Thank you for your detailed review. Please note that the room you occupied is the only one where the shower is separate from the rest of the bath facilities. We have noted the need to address repairs in it. I am sorry these problems existed...More
Cute on the outside, but insufferably hot on the inside. It ostensibly has AC, but the thermostats are set high and locked up behind a plastic cover. There is a sign above the thermostat that says you can get a fan from the front desk,...More

I am sorry your room was so hot. Yes, we do control the thermostats for the central air conditioning, but we do not want our guests to be uncomfortable! Generally you should have been able to get cool air if the vent was...More

Thank you for your kind and specific review. Future guests will appreciate knowledge of these details. We look forward to your future visits!
This is a simple place. It's not luxury but is clean, fairly comfortable, and good for an economical stay in Cambridge. The staff are friendly, the breakfast is good, and it's also nice to have regular access to tea and coffee.

We do not have suites, so, depending on your preferences, we could accommodate your party in 2 or 3 rooms. With your son being so tall, I would recommend three rooms each with queen bed and private bath. This is the type of room of which we have the most. A family room has a queen and two twin beds. The twin beds are 72" long, so not very comfortable for someone over 72" tall…..
Our sister property, Harding House, has mostly the same bed configuration, but also has adjoining rooms, so depending on the timing of your visit, you might be able to arrange adjoining rooms, one of which would have a queen bed, another having a double (full) bed. The double bed is also just 72" long, but your son could sleep on it diagonally and be quite comfortable.
I hope this is helpful!

Joanne, I believe I have answered this question in another response. Irving House does not have suites, so we would accommodate your party in two or three rooms. Your tall 16 year old would be more comfortable in a full (double) or queen bed, which would require a third room. I hope this is helpful information!
