Many people told us the Hotel Ranga was the "best hotel in Iceland". Perhaps. It's quite good (for Iceland) but they're still getting their act together. Rooms are good sized, beds are comfortable. Whirlpool bath with no shower curtain. Very tight fit for the toilet....More

The hotel does have an observatory with two working telescopes (not sure the type) that are pretty large - they looked a little larger than the type of telescopes that the astronomers use for the star parties in Marfa, TX... More

A hire car is essential for this hotel, do make sure you make best use of it and see at your own pace the South coast and what this wonderful Island has to offer. Do hire a 4 X 4
