a great quiet place, away from the crowds in Skagway after a few miles of winding road with beautiful sights. The hosts were great and very proud of Dyea, gave us lots of information about that once booming town! The homecooked dinner was really good, surf&turf, baked potatoe, coleslaw and a nice Alaskan Amber! We definitely will return!

Stayed two nights during our Alaska trip in order to take the train ride. The cabins are very comfortable and immaculate. Cathy was very helpful in telling us where to go and what to see in town. Breakfast was good with eggs and pancakes as well as fruits and breads. We had the dinner one night which consisted of cole...

My party of 4 rented 2 cabins at Chilkoot in early August 2013 and I have have to say that the whole experience was amazing. The cabins we had where 2 and 4. They included a front 'stoop' complete with swinging double seat. Inside the cabins are as authentic as it gets, varnished log walls, straight from a cowboy movie...

My wife and I stayed in one of the cabins for 2 nights. The hosts, Fred and Kathy are friendly and helpful. They both work diligently to provide a wonderful breakfast each morning. The cabin was spacious and located in a very relaxed and scenic setting. The road from Skagway to this property was under construction when we went, but...

Great lodge, friendly staff, and great location! Less than half a mile hike to the start of the Chilkoot Trail. We arrived to the lodge after a long ferry ride. They arranged a bus to pick us up from the ferry and to shuttle us to and from downtown Skagway. After we completed the trail the staff made all 24...

Just finished a hike across the Chilkoot trail which, very fortunately, began with a two-night stay at Kathy and Fred's little slice of paradise. IN RESPONSE TO JENNIEKINS: your completely skewed depiction of the owners' approach to customer relations should be stricken from Tripadvisor. Kathy was beaming, helpful and incredibly friendly from the initial phone call to the outpost through...

The owners seamed a bit shmirmy to me, even articulating that their business affords their vacation. Given their "pay for their winter holiday" approach to customer relations, you would think they would put a bit more into it. The cabins were nice but breakfast somewhat ordinary. The outdoor kitchen -- nothing going on. I could have had a similar experience...

We stayed at the Outpost the night before we did the Chilkoot Trail, the trail head being less than 500 meters away. Kathy and Fred were a wealth of information, and more than eager to share their knowledge, and love,of the area. You didn't have to ask them more than once to share their thoughts. Perfect hosts! There were bikes...

... and in so many ways. Kathy and Fred are two of the warmest and most genuine people that you will meet in the hospitality industry. Both are born and bred locals, and their pride in Dyea, and their home state, makes it clear that they were not "made in China". The Outpost is a very comfortable place from which...

This was the highlight stay on our Family Motorcycle trip. The location outside of Skagway gave us a place to relax and enjoy when we tired of the endless crowds of cruise ship tourists that come and go all day. Everything was wonderful, Kathy and Fred are fantastic hosts. We rented a cabin with a queen bed and futon and...
