My wife and I had a great couple of days here. Better than expected: - family running the place is very nice/helpful. - breakfast - noise level (this is a party town, but the hotel is far enough away) - view Note: it's on a hill. once you park your car, your going to want to walk due to traffic....

A lovely family run hotel, with fantastic views across the bay. Breakfast was very nice and plentiful. Staff very friendly, private parking was a bonus. Hotel not for the infirm as it a climb upto the hotel and a bit of a walk to get to the town.

This was one of the best hotels during our two week holiday in France. The bed was good, ideal location, beautiful harbour view, free parking, good breakfast and friendly service. I have nothing to complain. Excellent price-quality ratio!

Clean, comfortable, hospitable hotel (with air conditioned rooms) overlooking St Jean de Luz. Very well managed, excellent breakfast and short walk (climb, actually) to and from good restaurants and shops. If you have mobility problems, you'll need to drive up and down from hotel.

The room is a bit small and minimalist for the price asked, wifi signal is poor on the second floor. Practical access to St Jean de Luz and nice view on the city harbour. The staff is very nice and helpful.

Parking a bonus here but not an easy space in which to manoeuvre. Best to book a room with a balcony for good views of port and sea. Quite a trek into St Jean and a steep hill to climb on the way back. Warm welcome from hotelier. For the area good value.

This small and cosy hotel was perfect for our Christmas escape to the lovely setting of St Jean de Luz. Our double room had a view of the port and some of the bay - wonderful. The small room was comfortable and had an authentic, basic feel which we liked. The bathroom was compact and a local problem with hot...

Unlike others who had needed a 4x4 to get to the hotel, our car went up the hill effortlessly. I'm inclined to think the hill is not the hotel's fault. Also, we found the lady manager charming and Hey! — she's French, and I think French people are allowed to yell in French. Nonsense aside, the hotel is clean and...

We loved our stay here. The hotel is bright, clean, comfortable and well run. The breakfast was excellent and the view over the bay of St Jean de Luz from our balcony was stunning. It takes 15 minutes to walk into SJdeL but it's a pleasant walk and there are numerous bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from.

A pretty good home base for the Basque country if you prefer a French town. Pretty hard to find without GPS. Cheaper than St Jean de Luz, but that's only a pleasant 20-minute walk away. The parking was usually available, but it was a huge challenge to navigate the extremely small lot! We ended up staying in 2 different rooms...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On the Basque coast, bathed in the Atlantic ocean and nested on the side of "la colline de Bordagain" (Bordagain hill), l'hotel Agur Deneri offers an unrivaled view over Saint Jean de Luz bay and the fishing ports. From the high terraces or balconies, you can watch the sea rolling in and out with the tides. The area's charm and serenity compliment each other fantastically. Inspired by their Basque origins, and by the peaceful atmosphere of the surroundings, Veronique and Xalbat have created an atmosphere which positively breathes relaxation, to receive their guests. Since the beginning of this adventure, in 2000, they've put their all into creating this "etxe" just as they wanted it and transforming it into an "etxetoa" Comfortable : Calm and quiet, the sea view, the terraces and the gardens to the south. Convenient : Private parking, close proximity to the beaches, to the nautical centre in Socoa and both Ciboure and Saint Jean de Luz city centres ... more   less
