We stayed in a Garden room with a partial ocean view very close to the parking lot. Priceline.com saved us $70 on this room. I suggest an ocean view room far from from the parking or street areas as the noise from traffic and sirens and delivery trucks and cleaning equipment all seems to make their way to the hotel...

Aloha TA family, glad these Kamaaina had an okay stay, and were overall happy. We appreciate and welcome all comments and suggestions. Rather than try to make excuses, we'll share with the staff to continually try to improve our services and standards. Like they mentioned, we are the best value in Kona, and coming on a full house, special holiday,...

This is a very old and odd looking hotel in need of renovation. We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. We were given a room behind the lift. It was very noisy. The room smelt bad. The towels given were worn out and very thin. I would not recommend it.

Aloha TA family, sorry to hear these visitors from the UK had a less than enjoyable stay. We're checking on the room they stayed to investigate the lift noise. As for the towels, I've seen a few of these comments lately, and have gone direct to our Laundry contractor, they should be sorting out the old as they find them,...

Royal Kona resort has a pretty large property with three buildings with hotel rooms. You’ll have to go to the main building in the middle to check-in and see which building your room is in. The staff at the front desk were cordial and very friendly. The common areas of the resort were kept very nicely. There’s a small pool...

My wife and I spent 2 nights here during our visit to Kona. The hotel is in a great location, right on the water and an easy walk to a bunch of shops and restaurants in Kona. The hotel has a natural lagoon where you can swim and snorkel and also has a bar and grill that sits right on...

When we were booking we really struggled to find good hotels at a reasonable price. After lots of investigation we booked an ocean view room at the Royal Kona. After a ridiculously long check-in for the rental car at Dollar we turned up at the Royal Kona for check-in at 1200 which was too early to get our room. They...

We stayed at the Royal Kona Resort for our 21st Wedding Anniversary. Our room was in the Lagoon Tower, on the 4th floor. A King corner suite with a great view of the ocean. The room is a bit out-dated, peeling paint, bathroom is "eh", old carpets; it definitely needs an overhaul. The room had a slight odor, but just...

On July 2, 2013, American Airlines had to cancel AA246 from KOA to LAX due to an engine problem. About 73 of us passengers were shuttled to the Royal Kona Resort for "distress" accommodation, room and meal vouchers from AA in hand. It was midnight. As is usual around the world, the hotel requested each guest supply them with a...

Take in to account that I stayed here one night after my flight from Kona to LAX was cancelled at 9:30 pm. Despite the chaos of an entire plane-load of people descending on the front desk I felt the staff was remarkably helpful and professional. The room was clean but paint was peeling, carpet very worn and the bathroom really...

Aloha TA Family, distressed flights are never a pleasant end to a vacation, especially after midnight when all arrive, tired, and agitated. I'm just glad we were able to accommodate the passengers that were forced to lay over 1,2 and 3 days because we are running high occupancy this summer. Although our rooms are not marble and glass, and we're...

After being spoiled by another hotel in the past, at first I was disappointed with this one. When we got there to drop off our bags, it was check out time and only 1 person at the desk. Being first in line, I waited 20 minutes. Our actual check in time still had one person at the desk. Two of...

Aloha TA Family, I recall speaking directly with these guests, and did address their concerns immediately. Although we only received "two dots" we scored well on the other "dots" We strive to provide a clean well maintained resort for our guests, while still remaining the best value. I'm glad they'll come see us again when they return, we appreciate the...

We stayed at the Royal Kona June 13-17,2013. We have stayed there 3-4 times in the past, but had been 9 years since our last visit. We traveled with our family of 11 people. Aloha TA family, it's nice to know our return guests had all of their expectations met and in some cases exceeded. It's great being their favorite place to stay in Hawaii.
