This hotel is on the older side, however, renovations were happening on parts of the hotel when I was staying there so maybe it's getting a full make over? The hotel checked my into a occupied room. Of course they were embarrassed so they upgraded my room to a much larger one with a better view. The room was a...

Aloha TA family, not sure what happened on the check in, sorry about that, glad we were able to recover though. Yes, it's true, we're not the newest resort on the block, nor claim to be. But we do strive to provide clean, well maintained rooms and facility for our guests to enjoy. Although we're not going through any full...

I stayed at the Royal Kona for the Mai Tai Festival last year! Had an amazing time and really enjoyed the room!! I visit Kona about 6 times a year. I will definitely be booking a room here again! I love the bar and Carey is the best bartender!!! The staff had always been friendly, even when I wasn't a...

Overall happy with our 3 night stay at the Royal Kona. Our ocean view (6th floor) was awesome for views of sunsets etc. The exterior spaces of this hotel were very nice; however, the interior spaces were less so. Signs of wear in many places...marks on walls / elevators, worn-out carpets. The hotel could use a "refresh". Having said this,...

Aloha TA family, great to see a Top TA reviewer enjoyed their stay. Although we're not the newest kid on the block, we do strive to maintain and provide a clean and well maintained resort. As for free wifi, at this time we do not offer, nor do we impose a mandatory resort fee that many of our competitors do....

Great ocean view! We were able to watch dolphins playing in the water from the lobby- there is no sandy beach at the resort. There is also no room service, and breakfast closes at 10 am! Nothing else is served after that besides drinks. Rooms were spacious but old, and not very clean. The staff was very unfriendly, specially the...

Aloha TA family, correct we don't have rom service, but we happily offer take out 7 days a week for lunch and dinner from Dons Mai Tai Bar, walk up, leave an order, have a drink, and take away, enjoy on your lanai watching the beautiful view from our rooms. Too bad they didn't feel our rooms were up to...

We spent eleven days on the sixth floor overlooking the ocean. Dolphins played in the ocean outside our room and we saw many turtles as well. Every night we had a beautiful sunset to watch from our lanai. The resort is a bit dated, but I like that. I couldnt understand why Don the Beachcomber restaurant never seemed to have...

Aloha TA family, great to see these guests had such a wonderful stay, taking advantage of all the amazing things our resort offers, especially the dolphins in the Bay! Lunch and dinner is served 7 days a week at Dons Mai Tai Bar, unfortunately Don The Beachcomber is only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, due to all the great...

We stayed a couple of days in room 548. It was okay. Clean but really old and you could see the mold in the bathroom. Also the food and drinks in the restraunt were less then average. Wouldn't recommend it.

Aloha TA Family, sorry to hear our friends from Austria had less than a stellar stay, we addressed the mold comment, which upon personal inspection was caulking that needed replacing, sad to know they didn't find the food and beverage to be a great value as well, with our daily happy hour specials it's truly hard to believe. Room price is excellent, staff super, location can't be beat ... ocean in front, one block from shopping & price-friendly restaurants, on a bus route that covers all attractions in Kona Kailua. But it's stuck in the '70s. Tiny pool. First US hotel I've been in that didn't have grab-bars in the bath. Staff accommodated me with a bath chair,...

Aloha TA readers, glad these guest who attended a wedding here took full advantage of the great value, location and views. Yes, our pool isn't the largest, doesn't have a slide, or a swim up bar, but it's tucked right next to the ocean, where all you do is see, touch, taste and smell the beautiful pacific. After reading all the reviews, my wife and I decided on a week at the Royal Kona Resort in May 2013. We booked thru Costco with breakfast and car included. Aloha TA family, glad these guests found a great deal at Costco. Definitely the best value for location in Kona! Our luau does operate M/T/W & F from 5p to 8p sharp, and the Ocean Front rooms in the lagoon tower do have pretty amazing views. We have mixed feelings about this hotel. Our first room was on the second floor. The rooms are big enough but are a little old fashion. Our patio door didn't lock either.
