While this hotel is fairly old, the location is perfect. They offer ocean view rooms that are close enough you can hear the surf crash at night while you sleep, which is great. The staff is very friendly, the cool citrus water in the lobby is refreshing, and the restaurant/bar are great. They offer a luau as well it is...

Aloha TA family, great to see one of our Kamaaina (local residents) had a wonderful stay. Yes, we're located just steps away from famed Alii Drive, where you'll find a myriad of restaurants, bars, shopping, historical sites, galleries, the farmers market and the Kailua Pier. Location says it all, and clean, well maintained rooms and grounds, along with friendly staff...

We really enjoyed our stay here. It's relatively reasonably priced. Not overly fancy rooms but decent in all respects. Lobby is fancy. Would definitely stay here again. Has nice balcony view with every room and mini fridge. Staff were friendly. It's close to lots of dining and shopping along the coast. Pool is open air right next to the ocean...

Aloha TA family, another satisfied customer, with all expectations met and exceeded. I'm glad they enjoyed our prime location, our great views, staff and overall feel of the resort. True, we're not all that fancy marble and glass, but what we lack in that, we have in class. I'm glad they shared and we'll look forward to their return in...

Probably a little unfair as it was built in 1968, and the Love boat ran from 1977, but its kind from that era. I must say at the beginning that this was incl ina package I bought for the family 2 adults and 2 teenagers. If you had asked me to write this at the start of the visit I...

Aloha TA Family, I'm glad our guests from NZ were able to enjoy their stay once we were able to move them to a quieter location. Sometimes our neighbors music does go past "lights out" and we work with the county noise ordinance enforcement to "enforce" the law. I'm glad to know their stay got better as the week went...

This hotel has a beautiful site on a peninsula looking out onto the ocean. Public lounges and restaurants have commanding sea views and are well furnished. Our bedroom at the rear of the hotel had partial sea views but overlooked air conditioning plant which made a continuous noise necessitating wearing earplugs in order to sleep. Our wide spacious balcony was...

Aloha TA Family, its nice to see that a Senior Contributor from the UK enjoyed our great staff and service, our beautiful ocean front dining, restaurants and bar, as well as our ocean front pool that we just renovated. Although we're not the newest kid on the block, but we do offer the best value for location in Kona, hands...

Our 2 bedroom condo was like staying in a real home. Kitchen was massive. Quiet surroundings. There were a couple of items that needed fixed. As soon as I called the office, someone knocked on the door to take care of the issues. Nice complex. Would stay there again. Quick access to shopping and highway for touring the island.

We really enjoyed our stay at Royal Kona. The location is great—right on the water and within walking distance to the shops and restaurants on the main street. There is also a nice pool area that they were remodeling when we were there. The hotel is a little old, but it was clean and has been kept up pretty well.

Aloha TA family, great to know even though they weren't able to enjoy our ocean front pool, the great news is the pool is open and better than ever. I'm glad they enjoyed the location, close to shops, restaurants, farmers market, historical sites and the pier. We do have the best location offering clean and well maintained rooms at the...

We spent four nights at the beginning and one night at the end of our recent 10 day trip to the Big Island. Our first evening we sat at the Don the Beachcomber bar and watched a beautiful sunset, enjoying the happy hour pricing from 4-6. It was so nice, we did that several more times. We got very helpful...

Aloha TA family, another great review from another Top TA Contributor! To reiterate, we're actively working to install a free wifi hot spot by the bar, hopefully complete by December. I'm glad they had two great stays with us, hopefully when they return they'll try the great food at Don's Mai Tai Bar as well as the tasty beverages, where...

This hotel is in a great location with everything within walking distance. It has a nice bar area where you can sit and watch the dolphins. The resort is older but that is what is the most appealing. The only issue is that there is no free internet in the lobby or rooms and the telephone calls are very expensive...

I stayed at the Royal Kona Resort from 10/20 - 10/25. We upgraded to an ocean room and had a very enjoyable experience with the hotel and staff. Aloha TA Family, it's great to see these guests had pretty much a perfect stay and a great experience, loving the location, views, staff etc. I'm hopeful their entire stay in Hawaii and the Big Island was spectacular. We booked here specifically for proximity to watch the Ironman and the location was perfect.
