This old mansion with its several smaller huts is a great stop over. Have stayed there some times oer the years and perhaps it´s lost some of its genuine charm - nowadays run more like a countryside hotel than a bed & breakfast. Some room for improvement related to service, internet and personal attitude.

An amazing spot to rest and discover the beauty of the high desert in a perfect jumping off place to visit Joshua Tree National Park! I stayed in one of cabins & it was comfortable and luxurious at the same time. The breakfast was homemade and prepared with great care! I have never before stayed in a B&B before but... More

The Roughley Manor offers a peaceful, relaxing setting of multiple types of small gardens, a pool and several different accommodations both inside the manor and in unattached buildings located around the main house. My family of two adults and two teenage kids stayed in the Campbell Suite upstairs in the manor. It was so good to relax after a rather... More

The location is a little remote, but Roughley Manor is an oasis, surrounded by palms and shade trees. We stayed in the dog-friendly Cottage, which had a nice bedroom, sitting room, bath and private patio. It was really nice. The property has a pool and hot tub that I wish we would've tried. The grounds are tidy and well maintained.... More

Roughley Manor was the perfect place to land after being on the road with our kids for eight days. It felt like home. The property is an oasis in the desert and the owners are very friendly and helpful. We had a great time exploring Joshua Tree and enjoyed coming back to the Manor to relax. My one and only... More

Perfect place to stay. We just came back today after 2 days at Roughley Manor. Very friendly and clean place. It feels as if you found civilization in the middle of the sand. We can only recommend this lovely Bed and Breakfast Inn. Breakfast is plenty full and great tasting. The Manor is picture perfect and very friendly.

We enjoyed our 4-night stay in the Palm room, located in one of the out buildings. Room was spacious and comfortable. Small kitchenette had coffee maker, microwave, sink, small fridge. Not enough places to hang clothes. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Coffee, tea and cookies are available all day. The eclectic grounds have many places to sit and a pool,... More

We stayed for one night at the Farmhouse. It was a perfect place. It was clean, reasonably priced and very friendly staff. The breakfast in the main house was delicious. We would have liked to stay longer. It was very convenient to the Joshua Tree National Park.

I stayed at Roughley Manor over Thanksgiving holiday in the cozy Cottage. It was a treat, a perfect oasis for resting the weary bones after a day of hiking/exploring in Joshua Tree NP. It was nice to have a sitting area for reading, dozing off and watching TV. And no neighbors. It was too cold to enjoy the outdoor amenities...next... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Formerly the Roughley Manor, this historic desert inn returns to its roots, honoring Bill & Elizabeth Campbell, the original homesteaders in the 1920's. Step back in time and experience old-world charm at this historic desert inn, located minutes from Joshua Tree National Park in the Mojave Desert, California. Choose from two guest suites on the second floor of the historic Colonial style house, and ten suites and cottages on the surrounding property. What began as a modest homestead property in 1925 has been transformed over the years into a modern day desert oasis, with twelve spacious and luxurious guest suites. Unlike anything you'll find in the Mojave Desert, The Campbell House is a Philadelphia style Colonial house built in the late 1920's by early homesteaders and renowned archeologists Bill & Elizabeth Campbell. Set on 25 secluded acres, surrounded by towering Washingtonia fan palms and lush gardens, The Campbell House property offers a peaceful retreat, where you can experience the quiet and calm of the open desert. Discover Joshua Tree National Park, experience our breathtaking starry night skies. Rejuvenate with a massage, followed by a dip in the pool or hot tub. Find some shade and unwind in one of our many gardens, or play a game of bocce ball with the kids and reconnect. The time is yours. Choose from two guest suites on the second floor of the main house, and ten cottages on the surrounding property. Enjoy complimentary breakfast, pool and hot tub access, and on-site massage therapy. Rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi and Direct TV. Select rooms are pet-friendly. ... more   less
