Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really lovely stay, excellent food, lovely rooms and very courteous staff. Enjoyed the spa area and also well equipped boot room and ski room. Could do with some firmer pillows but a very small criticism. Very close to the slopes and ski hire shop. We will definitely return.

Small hotel close to the slopes with fab rooms and views and gorgeous food. Great buffet breakfast to set you up for a day on the slopes. 5 course dinner with choices. New chef since my last visit and the food is great. We had a newly refurbished room (2 bed suite) which was beautifully done. Even had a cosy fire! Worked well for family because we had room to spread out and the separate bedrooms meant we didn’t all need to go to bed at the same time. The walk to the lifts is a matter of minutes and if you need to hire skis the hire shop is opposite the hotel.

adly had to come back home after another great stay at this lovely hotel! The weather might not have been the kindest but this was made up for by the friendly atmosphere and great food. The number of repeat guests just keeps getting bigger. Feel as if i need to go on an urgent diet after 2 weeks of lovely food. Rooms are beautiful, staff lovely. i cant understand the bad reviews on here previously. we have been coming here for many years and never had a problem, Rosi, Manfred and the kids are LOVELY and nothing is too much trouble for them. cant wait to go back

We have been guests at the Hotel Wiesental for several years now and are always delighted with the hospitality of the Scheiber family. We don't need to say much more about the rooms, the food and the location. Everything is first class and we can only say, keep it up!

The hotel was excellent. Already at the check-in we were warmly welcomed by the staff and hosts. The service was excellent, as was the food. Not only the rooms are modern, but also the entire hotel complex. In the evening at the bar we always had super friendly and fun conversations with the owners who put a lot of effort into it. So I don't understand the bad reviews, probably the bad reviews come from people who don't know about gastronomy and are stupid. I think the hotel is very nice and wish the team and the owners good luck.

My partner and me stayed at this hotel for the first time. Although we didn't know what we should expect due to the some of the comments here, it was really nice. We were there from Saturday till Wednesday. The stuff was really nice, the rooms were clean even with little details on the bed. I was positively surprised by the vegetarian options. In the afternoon we had a little snack from the buffet and sat outside (totally recommend - really sunny, you could even get a tan there). The skiing area was not that full, so we that we could enjoy skiing. Tip of ours: visit the Nederhut.

We did not stay at this hotel but lunched here four times. Enjoying the outdoor terrace in the glorious spring weather with our lovely waiter. He was very professional yet friendly and welcoming On the last day of our trip we visited again but had to sit inside as the weather was poor. Our experience was totally different, we were definitely not made welcome and after ordering drinks we left to eat elsewhere. The owner of the hotel was incredibly rude, shouting, yes shouting at a lady member of our party. Maybe she was having a bad day? She completely lacked any customer care and how she remains in business with such a poor attitude amazes me. If you can avoid the owner you will have a pleasant lunch with good food and service.

We had exactly the same issues as the first reviews I’ve read. This woman screamed at my partner when she went to use the toilets, We used to eat there every lunchtime and the staff where great, apart from this disgusting woman manager She also ranted at our group for sitting in reserved seats even though they had no signs on them and the staff where happy for us to sit there. We finished our drinks and left and ate at pic Nic which was fantastic Before this we had considered staying at this hotel next year, but now we wouldn’t even stop for a lunchtime drink

Do not be misled by the superficial ambience that this hotel seeks to protray. It is managed by quite the rudest and disagreeable woman it has ever been my experience to encounter. She is, quite simply the female equivalent of Basil Fawlty. Either she would glower with contempt at anyone who was not fluent in German or, as happenned to us, she would vent her foul temper for mistakes that the hotel made prior to arrival, on arrival and during our stay. Having received a stern ticking off for not leaving our bar invoices at our breakfast table each day, we tried at different times of day and evening for the remaining 3 nights of our stay to bring our account up to date. Each time, there was either noone at reception to pay or that the duty staff could not undertake such work and that we should pay on our departure. No-one was available on the eve of departure and, on the day of departure, despite being at the reception desk a full 40 minutes before breakfast was to start, we suffered a tirade of abuse, with shouting and screaming that we should have paid the night before. As if that was not enough, my German is of sufficient standard to determine the insults sprinkled like confetti. Well, of course, the bill had not been prepared and "Madam" went to great length to try and place the blame for this on us. Her wrath was further enhanced when my wife produced a credit card that as it was in many multiples of the contactless amount in the UK needed to be inserted into the reader. With our final account paid, this ghastly woman thrust the bill at us. We appear to have been overcharged; the "invoices" which we left on our breakfast table were not provided and although have been to Obergurgl on many occasions will not be keen to return. Avoid this place - if you have to go, then ONLY deal with her daughter, never the mother or her meek husband. What a pity as potentially quite a nice little hotel. Food was not as good as any of the other hotels in Obergurgl that we have dined in or stayed at. All in all, a very unpleasant place.

My family of 2 adults (60 yrs old) and 3 adult daughters stayed here. The hotel itself was traditional, clean and the rooms were large and pleasant. The food was nice enough. The atmosphere seemed a little weird/strained. The woman owner was watching everyone’s move and if you asked a question of a waiting person she swooped in and wanted to know what you wanted. The staff seemed on edge and nervous. On the second evening we had an incident whereby my daughter brought her light, cropped jacket into the restaurant because all the hooks were full. The woman started telling my daughter off in a very offhand manner and told her to take the coat to the bedroom in a very unpleasant way. My daughter asked her not to talk to her so rudely in a very calm manner at which point the woman started screaming. She then continued to scream at my daughter and my husband in the reception. Screaming obscenities in German and stamping her feet. She was completely out of control. She then came to the restaurant and told the rest of the family to come to reception where she continued swearing and screaming right in our faces and told us to pack up our rooms and leave the hotel! She clearly has some anger management and other problems. She made a huge mountain out of a non-issue. Her husband was useless at helping to sort the situation out and told us that my daughter had upset his wife!!!!!! He obviously is used to this happening and was scared of her! Her behaviour was really frightening. Thank goodness we had booked with Inghams. They came over immediately and moved us to another hotel in the morning. I cannot imagine having to spend another moment here. As we were leaving the next morning the male owner was hiding in his office. My husband went over and asked for an apology but he refused to give one. I have travelled extensively with work and leisure and stayed all over the world in a variety of hotels. I have worked on bank trading floors with some pretty colourful characters for many years. I can honestly say that I have never been treated like this before. I have never had someone screaming at the top of their voice in my face. It was DISGRACEFUL. The woman is completely unhinged. We are a respectable, polite family who were treated with disdain. This might be a nice hotel and you might be lucky the owner is in a good mood or she has taken a liking to you. But WATCH OUT! If not, she will ruin your holiday. I would rate this experience a ZERO if I could. My tip is don’t chance a visit. Before you book read the Tripadvisor and Google reviews (she told someone to die on the street the week before apparently!). I wish I had! I definitely would not have stayed here. The customer experience is obviously of no importance to the owners!
