The owners were friendly and helpful. The area is beautiful. Facilities are well maintained. It's a bit out of town, but who wants to be that close to town when camping. Custer is a charming SD town and one we have visited before. We usually stay elsewhere but decided to try something different and are glad we did. We will...

I camped solo @ Big Pine in a tent site. Staff was very friendly! they had small six packs in the office to purchase (cant beat that!) nice shower rooms, enough space between me and my other tenting neighbors. I was going to hike Harney Peak (renamed Black Elk Peak) and also visit Crazy Horse then see a friend @...

This is a great campground with fantastic hosts - they obviously love what they do, and they are amazingly friendly. It's on the west side of Custer so you drive through town to get to Custer State Park, but it is worth the drive. We stayed in late June 2016 (in a pop-up) and it was great.

We stayed in a lot of different campgrounds on our journey from Oregon to South Dakota. Some good, some not so good. Big Pine Campground was outstanding! Quiet, clean, tons of space between sites, close proximity to restrooms....perfect. They are bumped up to Forest Service land which gave us space to walk and run our dogs too. They are 20...

Big Pines is one of the best camping experiences we’ve had in our five years of travelling. Beyond the typical amenities, Big Pines offers a quiet, secluded forest atmosphere and is close to many great sites and activities in the South Dakota Black Hills area. Big Pine owners, Ron and Angie, take great pride and work very hard to make...

We just returned from a trip to the Black Hills where we stayed 4 nights at Big Pine Campground. The campground is the perfect location for seeing all the sites in the area. Clean, quiet, beautiful! The owners are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

In addition to being a beautiful park (assuming you prefer trees and level gravel pads over concrete with some grass), we are constantly visited by wildlife...deer, turkeys, squirrels and the occassional not-so-wild cat. The pines are mature and plentiful. The sites are very large offering fire rings and picnic tables. The owners are friendly and helpful. The owner even helped...

Our site, 30, was ok, close to next camper. 9ther sites had more space and glass, th8s 8s all gravel. We opted for sewer, water, electric, some sites with no sewer were nicer. Site 31 across the road would be better choice.

This is one best keep secrets in Custer. The RV lots are big, the owners are wonderful and even mom and dad help out and everyone makes you feel at home. My wife and I camped out next the bathrooms and talk about nice and clean. I went and used the shower and everything in the shower / bathroom was...

I stayed 3 nights at Big Pine, in their tent camping area. As others have noted, the staff/owners are VERY friendly and helpful. They were excellent to correspond with prior to my visit, and equally helpful while I was there. When you check in they ask if you want firewood (and $4 for a good-sized bundle is good in my...
