Gucumatz is everything needed and them some more! The room was nothing fancy but it was very clean and nothing was lacking. The Inn's grounds and staff are what really set this place apart. There were comfortable places to lounge and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. It was perfect after a long day's drive and border crossing to sit at the... More

Very, very relaxing A this Inn is right on the waterfront. Far enough away from the hustle yet close enough you can join in if you wish. Rooms are comfortable, clean and very quiet. The restauarnt is quite good too. Prices are very reasonable

Solo traveller who stayed for 3 nights in October 2013. It felt like visiting family. Quite isolated, so recommended for a relaxing stay. Very clean inn, delicious food available for purchase, beautiful area.

Our family of five stayed here in April 2014. Moya and her team are excellent hosts, serving authentic food for breakfast and dinner, offering opportunities to experience interactions with the local people, and assisting on shuttling us to and from town. The location is pretty removed from town (which is part of the charm), so be prepared to make arrangements... More

We stayed 2 nights in this little paradise and fell in love with the place, the host Moya and Guatemala. It is conveniently located between Flores and Tikal, so it is perfect for those planning to visit both places. It also is right on the lake with comfortable entrances, a palapa with hammocks, benches to enjoy the view, awesome view... More

My hubby & I stayed for just one night in March, on our way to Tikal from our farm in Belize. Made a reservation by calling and emailing, and received good information both ways...and got to choose what we wanted for dinner-yummy! The road from Flores had been worked on after the rainy season and it was in great shape... More

Gucumatz is a simple and delightful small bed and breakfast on the bank of Lago Peten Itza. It exudes local charm and provides many wonderful venues for peaceful reading, painting, talking and, of course, swimming in the warm water of the lake. Here one finds exactly what one needs in the way of accommodation and no more. Moya is an... More

Gucumatz is a place to relax and get away from the interruptions of the world. We stayed for five nights in January 2014. The rooms are basic but spacious and are set in wonderful terraced grounds which are nice to explore. We were enchanted by the hummingbirds that would feed all day long outside our room. The lake is wonderful... More

“We had room number 1 on the ground floor that overlooked the lake and the outdoor dining area. The place is quiet other than the odd passing bus or car so noise is not an issue. Windows are flyscreens which was very pleasant allowing the breeze to come in. Our room was basic but met our needs - the rooms don't have bar fridges, TV's or tea and coffee making facilities however tea and coffee is always available to take to your room free of charge and fresh water is left in the room every day when the room is serviced.”
