My family and I went back to Mansion del Rio after 5 years, but the service was terrible. Unfriendly receptionist and I had to wait 1 1/2 hour to get our rooms, because they don't hire enough cleaning staff. Don't even bother complaining. They have all the excuses and NO solution for your loved ones and you. Actually we were...

February 18-20, 2011 I have to confess that I was kind of skeptical about this Hotel because some reviews posted on this Website about/around a year ago. Some fellow travelers had some bad experiences which it made me wait until I get at Rio Dulce to book for a Hotel instead of booking in advance. We asked for a hotel...

We stayed at Mansion del Rio on February 18th on our annual mission trip to Guatemala when our reservation was not honored at Amatique Bay Resort in Puerto Barrios. At one time, Mansion del Rio may have been an elite place to stay in Rio Dulce, but it has seen its better days. Our room had a musty smell which...

I fully agree with the previous review, Mansion del Rio is outdated and overpriced. I have travelled around Guatemala a lot and usually at USD 100 a night (single room) you have a very nice and comfortable hotel, so my expectations were high. What a desapointment! I had chosen a room with a lake view and although the hotel was...

We stayed at the Mansion del Rio for one night on Monday, February 16th, and trust me, one night was enough! We traveled with a group of 8, (3 Guatemalan residents & 5 Americans). We arrived late, 9 p.m., and the hotel receptionist was nice enough to advise us that the only restaurant on hotel grounds would be closing in...

We stayed @ Mansion Del Rio on the night of Jan1. We originally wanted to stay an extra night at Amatique Bay in Livingston but it was all booked for that night. We found this hotel after doing some research online and some family in Guatemala told us they had stayed there before and it was really nice. We had...

While looking for a getaway druing a long holiday weekend in Guatemala, my girlfriend and I stayed at the Mansion del Rio in Rio Dulce, Izabal Guatemala. This place was highly recommended to us by local and tourists. We called for reservations and at this point we did not know that various parts of the hotel were flooded and were...
