The hosts are very nice and make you feel welcome here, but the dorms are really small, and its not very comfortable when they are full (I had the luck to stay in one that was only half full). The showers are not very clean and getting to them involves walking through the yard. The food at the restaurant in... More

We payed 40Q each for the backpacker dorm. It had a bunk, with room for 2 on each level. There was cable tv, but you had to go to the bar for the wi fi signal. Bathrooms were shared for the dorms, and were a bit unclean, although not at all filthy. There was a screen in disrepair over the... More

This place rocks! J and J are the greatest hosts. They make you feel welcome. We had arrived in Rio Dulce the day before. We had a late lunch at a nearby place. Bru--'s.... What a mistake. The next morning off to breakfast at Vista Rio..... Holy cow.... looked at a room while we were finishing up breakfast. Went and... More

Managers J&J added a wonderful dose of Southern hospitality to my 4-night stay at Vista Rio; they were a source of honest advice and constantly checked in to see how I was doing. The restaurant offers nice views of the river and sailboats, and it’s a good spot to eat as well as use wifi and chat with other travelers.... More

We picked this place from the guidebook and ratings here. Our feelings towards this place were mixed and I had a hard time deciding how to rate it. The good: First, J&J are as friendly and welcoming as we had been led to believe by past reviews. They chatted with us for the evening giving us lots of pointers and... More

I stayed here for a week in October 2013. I came to Rio Dulce on the bus. The bus ride was long and I just went to the hotel nearest the bus station. Big mistake. It was filthy. The next day I went and got a room at the Vista Rio. It was much, much better. I went ahead and... More

My girlfriend and I found the Hotel Vista Rio when we were looking for a few nights' stay as we made the transition from Semuc Champey to Honduras's Bay Islands. We ended up staying for five days. We arrived at the Hotel one afternoon, a bit awe struck by the fact that, for the first time during this trip, we... More

We ran into the hotel accidentally while looking for an accommodation close to the waterfront. It turned out to be a great and lucky “accident” for us. With a low budget we didn´t want to spend much money on the rooms and took a private dorm. Yes, the building is made of concrete but the beds are definitely comfortable, the... More

My partner and I stayed in the "bunkers"and actually had a pleasant stay (contrary to other comments). Stumbling upon a place for $5 a night, on a budget, was more than fine by us. Also, it's harder to find a gay-friendly place in Guatemala, so stumbling upon some fellow New Orleanians was like serendipity. J and J are lovely people... More

We stayed at another hostel that was out of the way(accessible only by boat) and expensive rooms and food and the food was not great.
