The pros: Very good location near major attractions in the French Quarter and friendly staff. Even though it is close to Bourbon Street, it is a quiet location. The Junior Suite was large. The cons: Our Junior Suite and our travelling companion's suite were in poor condition and need updating now. The carpeting, which had numerous dark stains, and bedding...

My husband and I have tried a number of hotels in the French Quarter over the years but hadn't been able to get a room here since it is always booked. Now we know why. VERY reasonable rates, great service, wonderful ambience. The only reason that I didn't give it an excellent is that it would be a little cleaner....

What a fabulous hotel. It had a great atmosphere and was in a prime location for a family - just off Bourbon Street without the street noise. Our room overlooked a lovely patio and we had a small balcony. The room was large enough for a family of four but it would of been better to have a two bedroom...

It's fun while in New Orleans to stay in a place that captures the character of the French Quarter, and the Hotel St. Marie definitely does that. The hotel is a short New Orleans half block from Bourbon, close enough to get to the action quickly but very quiet. Within walking distance it is possible to find everything from elegant...

We stayed in the Hotel St. Marie December 12-14th and I couldn't come up with a single complaint. For such a low price, I was expecting many shortcomings, but didn't find any. Yes, this is an older hotel, but it is elegant and clean! We'd read some of the reviews stating that the carpets and wallpaper left much to be...

The St Marie is in the middle of the French Quarter. A moderate priced hotel(fairly priced)around the corner from Jazz Preservation Hall:). The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food is good, but as most places go, the drinks are not inexpensive. A very good hotel, with a warm feel!

Want to stay in the heart of things? Be able to walk all over the French Quarter? Stay here... great courtyard, nice bar & coffee shop, and super helpful staff! Walk to Central Grocery and get a great sandwich, shop on your walk to and from, and then find a bar on Bourbon Street where you like the music, and...

Rooms are adequate but need a deep cleaning or complete update. Discolored and peeling wallpaper, musty smelling drawers and corridors. Could be top notch with a good dose of TLC. Nice bar and courtyard. Did not partake, but full service restaurant on premise.

The hotel is very charming with plenty of New Orleans atmosphere. Located a block off Bourbon St. It is within easy walking distance to Cafe du Monde, Frenchman St. and Jackson Square. The room was nice if a bit drafty with a courtyard balcony that added to the ambiance. I agree with a previous reviewer and took away a star...

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
