The Royal Sonesta has many things to recommend it. The first is the staff - they were fabulous! Everyone was above and beyond the required attentiveness of a great hotel. The concierge spent time with every single person who approached, but managed to still make everyone feel they were important. He found us one of the best walking tours ever...

This hotel is centrally located in the hear of Bourbon street, but other than that I don't know if there's anything special about it. The rooms were decent but really old. There is a pool in the courtyard which is very rare for hotels in New Orleans, especially in the French Quarters. I would definitely stay here again but there...

Beautiful from the moment you walk into the lobby. Couple of minor complaints; when I booked the room I was asked if I wanted a balcony room or a view of the court yard. I asked for a baloney and got a view of a concrete wall. There were lights out that were not replaced an linen service was a...

This was a very nice hotel in a great location, but you need to get an inside room because Bourbon Street is VERY noisy. It's very clean and the bell staff were delightful, however the people at the front desk were not the best - not very helpful and didn't make much effort.

Everything needs replacing in this hotel - from the wallpaper to the sconces and the bathroom time. This is the second time I've encountered a fire drill - this one was at 11pm. No one answered the phones. They cancelled the "drill" about an hour later.

I just returned from a business trip where I spent 2 nights at the Royal Sonesta. Aside from the "prime location" on Bourbon Street, I do not think the hotel was that great. The staff was pretty helpful, but I feel bad for the poor bellmen and those ridiculous outfits they make them wear. I was not a huge fan...

Beautiful hotel. Will stay here again on my next trip to New Orleans. Great location, wonderful food, nice room. What else could you ask for? Within walking distance to lots of shops and sites. Lots of music in the area.

The Royal Sonesta has beautiful, comfortable rooms. we prefer the rooms with balconies on Conti or Beinville streets. R'evolution is always delicious and makes you feel special. Location of the property can't be beat.

This WAS my choice hotel while in New Orleans, but no longer. Service has deteriorated and it seems staffing levels are definitely down and employee appearance has taken a dive. Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
