In the perfect location if you're intending to be in the centre of the French Quarter. 5-star hotel, lovely rooms with classic French-style decor and a hint of Spanish influence. There is no view of anything much on any of the floors but you'll be too busy exploring to spend much time in your room anyway. Fairly good restaurant (Criollo)...

Upon our arrival at the Monteleone we were greeted by the most helpful and courteous doormen and the personable reception personal were most helpful and accommodating. The Montelone is a very beautiful historical hotel and our room was no disappointment either. The room was a little on the small side and the bathroom also but this can be overlooked as...

Beautiful hotel. Rooms are on the small side but comfortable. The carousel bar was fun but very busy. Location was great. Within walking distance to bourbon street. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

The Hotel Montelone has many great qualities - wonderful location, beautiful lobby, good meeting rooms, and a good on-site restaurant. I'd have given the hotel another star if my check-in experience had been better. I arrived for three days of work meetings, and had requested an early check-in, as I needed to change clothes before my meeting. I asked for...

The Hotel Monteleone is not just in the heart of the French Quarter but a popular destination for visitors who aren't guests of the hotel. Notably, the Carousel Bar is worth seeing (bar stools are hard to come by!) to enjoy a Sarazec, an Abita, or your favourite beverage. Criollo, the hotel restaurant does and exceptional job with it's offerings....

Always wanted to stay here, it lives up to it's reviews. A great hotel, in the perfect place. The staff really makes it very special, and of course, don't miss the famous Carousel Bar. The location let's you visit the French Quarter, but walking distance to Canal, Cafe du Monde, and the streetcars.

The Monteleone is the favorite hotel of famous American writers for a reason. It oozes elegance and history. It's location, steps from the madness of Bourbon Street, provides guests with a soothing environment as well as easy access to the non-stop party in the French Quarter.

Room quality does not justify the high price. There was nothing special about the room, it seemed dated. The bathroom was incredibly cramped. Valet and check in staff were great though and the location is convenient. For the priced we were charged we could have booked a suite at any other 4-5 star hotel.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
