My wife and I took an anniversary trip to New Orleans, so it was important that the accommodations were specially prepared for the occasion. I called three times in advance to ensure that there was a bottle of champagne in the room when we arrived and any other special anniversary extras. I made it clear cost was not an issue...

Hotel is puzzled by this review - believe guests may have stayed at some other hotel. Lafayette routinely delivers champagne, gifts special services to guest rooms. All 3rd, 4th, 5th floor guest room windows are sealed closed with no hardware, no balconies. Think maybe other hotel was reviewed.....

We stayed at the Lafayette for a business trade show, and I have to say it was a great experience. We checked in late after driving in from Houston (6 hrs usually, but 9 with traffic) and the staff was so great; friendly and very helpful. Our room was large and comfortable. What I really appreciated was how calm and...

We stayed here recently during the French quarter festival, room was large with a huge bed, great bathroom and very clean and quiet. The French quarter was about 10/15 mins walk away which was perfect for us as we don't like to stay in rowdy areas of town.staff were all extremely friendly and helpful regarding information about the city and...

Spent three nights in the Lafayette Hotel with my wife for a quick Easter break holiday. Found the hotel to be very cosy, with a charming feel to it. It's well located, within easy walking distance to the French Quarter, the Riverwalk Outlet centre and the eating and drinking places in between. The location on St Charles Ave also means...

The place was expensive so when I walked in and saw the tiny reception area over in the corner with one person sitting behind the desk I was REALLY hoping I wasn't gonna be disappointed with my room after spending half a month's rent on 3 nights in NOLA. Check in was painless. I got a room on the 5th...

This is an awesome location when mardis gras is happening. The parades go right past your window. The bad part is you will pay through the nose for it. We went through clc. And got a much better rate but even then it was very expensive. The room was great and the staff was superb.

This hotel is ideal for Mardi Gras since it faces St. Charles, the parade route.. We had balcony rooms that allowed for watching the parades and catching beads::-) There is a restaurant, but you must pick up your food to take back to the room if you don't eat there. Rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable and noise...

PROS: * Location is the best...within walking distance to French Quarter, Convention Center, WWII Museum and LOTS of great restaurants. St Charles streetcar right across the street. * Staff is friendly and helpful. Small property so they know and greet you as you come and go * Rooms are dated, but spacious and clean * Great rate for NOLA CONS:...

The Lafayette Hotel is wonderful! I truly found nothing to complain about at all. The location is perfect! The rooms are very clean, the beds are great. The shower was perfect, very good water pressure and no issues with heat. The staff are very nice and talkative, sharing what they know about the area to fit your needs. We felt...

This was a wonderful historic hotel located within a 10 min walk of the convention center where I recently had to do business. The staff was very helpful and had wonderful recommendations for places to eat. The rooms were spacious and beds extremely comfortable. Would recommend they add a little more lighting in the rooms and the internet was a...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
