I had to go to New Orleans on business, and afterward my wife joined me and stayed on for the weekend. We loved the charm and old world feel of the hotel. I noticed that in a few of the reviews that I read before booking, the reviewers said it was "quirky" in a cool way. Although I agreed with...

What a wonderful experience to stay at this hotel!! Absolutely wish to come back. The ambiance began as soon as we arrived at the door and grew as we walked inside where we were greeted and welcomed by very friendly staff who immediately insisted to help carry our bags upstairs. The elevator was fun. Our room was decorated wonderful -...

I would say the hotel is definitely funky and different..... lots of nooks and hallways and connections and truly a New Orleans original. It was our first time in New Orleans and this was definitely a true French Quarter experience!!! The staff is very helpful and everything is quaint! The elevator is SMALL but clean and works!!!! Has interesting touches...

We stayed two nights in "the Cottage" at the Olivier House Hotel, and quite honestly, it was one of our all time favorite hotel experiences ever. The location is perfect, in the heart of the French Quarter steps from Bourbon, but far enough away from the noise (especially if you stay in the interior of the hotel) to not be...

1st time in New Orleans, and I'm so glad we booked this hotel. After looking at reviews, and the locations of other hotels, we felt like this was the best bet. John and the rest of the crew were top notch fulfilling our requests that we needed for our stay. So close everything in the french quarter! We stayed in...

Well, from reviews we thought it would b cute and quaint. We are used to Marriott and 4 and 5 stars means well...pretty darn nice. Let me start with there are no smoke detectors. Can't find any. It is a federal and state law. I see smoking has been happening in the hall ways. Bedspreads are dry clean old brocade....

If you are looking for a five star hotel with all the amenities, you can continue your search. However, if you are looking for an authentic, 200 year old building, French Quarter Courtyard, history, and rich New Orleans Culture, you can't do much better than the Olivier House. The rooms are well maintained and provide AC and televisions, phones, but...

Sit in the Courtyard if weather permits. Make sure you know directions to the hotel. Elevator is very very very small. Or 4 flights of stairs. Served only coffee tea and cookies and one type of fruit. Not everyone will like the historic condition of the hotel. Room looked as if 1890. AC worked. Some noise from Bourbon Street. Less...

I've stayed here several times, and it's a nice alternative to the big chain hotels. It's location is ideal---just steps away from Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, so everything is within walking distance. The rooms are all unique and beautiful!!! The staff is friendly and helpful.

My husband and I stayed at the Oliver House the weekend after Mardi Gras. We booked a queen with balcony. It was a cozy and charming room. Loved the vintage look decor. The location was great! The balcony looked over the street and there was a lot to see! We chose this room with a balcony to be in the...

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
