Great location; beautiful place; lovely pool; nice people. Would be happy to stay there again any time! Rooms are all lively and well-appointed. Staff is friendly and responsive. Would be nice if the in-room refrigerators were stocked, though.

My sister and I were in town to visit another sister- this was close to her. We were in the Burgundy room right on the 1st floor in the main house; the room was beautiful and spacious, great shower, but could use better lighting in the bathroom- had to do makeup in the room with big windows providing adequate light....

We booked Melrose Manor for 10 people(5 rooms) for one night after a cruise on Hotels.com. The Manor is on the end of the French Quarter but is still in walking distance to all the sights. We arrived very early because we were off the cruise ship so the rooms were not ready and the lobby was a little congested...

Beautiful, classy incredible hotel. Great staff. Beautiful pool and lobby. Suite 1A is best in house. 1700 saw ft apt. Large living room, state of the art kitchen, marble bathroom with jacuzzi and huge glass shower. Awesome king bedroom. This place is amazing. The regular rooms are large also. Just go!! Fantastic location on the edge of the French quarter and within easy walking distance of all the action but without the noise and hustle bustle. A perfect haven of tranquillity for a little taste of luxury. It would have been nice to have somewhere to put toiletries in the vast bathroom. There were no shelves or side table to put...

Zena K, It was a joy for us to have you! You're not wrong when you mention the scarcity of shelves or side tables in the bathrooms. We do have a couple of small tables on the property which we are willing to provide upon request, if available. We like to take every guest's opinions to heart and use them...

What a gem is the Melrose Mansion! We stayed in the Exclusive Grande Balcony Suite that overlooks Esplanade and yes it is pricier than the other rooms but well worth the investment. This visit was in November and the weather was just perfect, but for one torrential downpour. It may be quite hot at other times of the year, something...

This property was absolutely STUNNING! It was centrally located to The French Quarter and Bourbon Street! Also within great walking distance to both! And the price was affordable! I would stay her again... and again... and again!

I visited this mansion for an overnight stay and I was satisfied with the accommodations. The mansion was quite picturesque. It has an interesting history. It's gone from private home in the 1800s to brothel to B&B :-). Don't worry, the brothel part was a long time ago :-). The exterior reminds you that this home was established long ago,...

njb719, You're so right--the Melrose Mansion really does have that picturesque quality that makes it so special. Tie in the history of the house and fabulous location, being so close to the French Quarter, and there you have it--the Melrose experience! I'm glad you didn't have any real trouble with your stay. Come back and see us soon, and we'll...

My wife and I made our first (and by no means final) trip to N'Oleans LA in late October to celebrate our 25th Anniversary, and other events. We were very fortunate to choose the Melrose Mansion on Esplanade for our 5-night stay. The mansion itself is beautifully re-modeled, and although we did not stay in that particular building, it is...

We came down to NOLA for our 30th wedding anniversary in mid October and I didn't keep this a secret from them. I even called after booking through Orbitz to inquire about this particular room and believed I had completed...

David P, We find that the bar across the street does mean occasional background noise, but we tend to consider the friendly neighborhood vibes and good, local live music to be a special perk for our guests seeking the French Quarter atmosphere. We have indeed found that the minimal decor throughout the property unfortunately does not work for everybody. We...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
