The free breakfast includes do-it-urself waffles and pancakes, to which you can add berries and chocolate! The staff were attentive and the place is immaculately maintained. They even have private rooms, which I did not use but the dorm beds were comfy and quiet. The ensuite bath had a large tub which was luxurious to say the least. I'll definitely... More

I stayed at the IHSP during Halloween in New Orleans. The staff were great (shout out to Imogen for being super friendly, fun to chat to and helpful), the place was really clean, there was a cute courtyard to hang out in, super comfy lounges and it is really close to the French Quarter. It was really busy in New... More

Having stayed in backpackers for the most part of 10 years traveling this is absolutely up there with the best. My first time to NOLA and couldn't have been more welcomed, supported, and comfortable...even as a very independent traveler the crew of staff here added so much value to my stay that I'll definitely be back and recommending it to... I needed a quick housing option for a single night before ending my trip in New Orleans. The last bed in the 12 bedroom dorm at IHSP was $36, so I adjusted my hotel mindset quickly and booked the room. I arrived shortly before check-in time and met with a chipper and helpful front desk staff. She took a "deposit"... More

The 6th hostel I have stayed in during this trip and a very enjoyable place indeed. Sure I have had better breakfasts elsewhere, but in terms of all round comfort, security, friendliness and helpfulness of staff this place was great. In addition and quite importantly the hostel was not a huge facility so allowed for all hostelees to get to... More

My 2 friends and I stayed here after staying with their sister hostel, NOLA Jazz House. I really cannot pick which hostel was more outstanding - except for the fact IHSP is closer to the french quarter. The staff were super friendly and helpful, everything was clean and it has the best lay out for socializing with fellow travellers. Big... More

The house is really nice, well located alltough they are telling the area is quiet dangerous in the nights. The rooms are really big and mixed. There are a lot of gay bars around, which are really cute to hang out. Also you have some nice places to have dinner with wine.

Located on the outskirts of the French quarter this is a great hostel for groups and solo travelers. The staff are great, friendly and its clean. Highly recommended. The area is fine, I saw one review saying the area was unsafe but just like anywhere.. You just have to be a tiny bit street smart.. But this area is totally... More

I cant say enough good things about this place. My husband and I stayed here for a few days during our road trip honeymoon. We stayed in a private suite with its own bathroom which was off of the main house. The staff was so welcoming and friendly the entire time and made sure we had everything we needed. They... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
