I almost hate to review this hotel and let out the Best Kept Secret in New Orleans. Normally I wouldn't think of staying outside the French Quarter but this time we needed to have a car so I was looking for the free parking. This...More
This hotel is small and quaint and well located for visits into the French quarter and the Garden district. The only downside is that the rooms and beds seem rather small after some of the suites we have stayed in.
This is a great old hotel in a good location with free parking. The room was large, clean and comfortable. It is near the St. Charles streetcar stop. The hotel also offer free breakfast every morning. We will return to this hotel in the future.
Please note: the check in is kitty corner across the street from the hotel!
We got a great deal on this hotel through Hotwire, and are really happy by how nice the accommodations turned out to be. The building is a old converted mansion from...More
Lovely hotel albeit with split location accommodation. Plus points excellent location to town and close to street cars. Negative side is that I have difficulty with stairs and asked for ground (first) floor but was given a second floor room. Also, although breakfast was clearly...More

Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give
yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
The Prytania Oaks does share a very small parking lot with the adjacent business, however, the main parking lot is 1/2 block away located at The Prytania Park. Which by the way, is where you check in and register.

I'm sure they will. We called before we got there and told them we'd be arriving about 10 a.m. They offered to let us park (for free) and leave our luggage there while we saw the city. Turns out, our rooms were ready, so they let us check in early. Have a good time!
