Nice property on the edge of the garden district. Nice architecture. Front porch looks nice but faces a busy street and what is across the street is not too pleasing. The side and back of the house is quieter to sit outside. No coffee service in room but there is in lobby. No food service but I knew this. But...

Cozy neighborhood vibes, friendliest and most helpful staff (thank you Willy!) Felt like home with access to relax in "living room" with a warm cup of tea. And having coffee in the mornings on the front balcony made the experience complete. Very inspiring energy!

When you picture New Orleans the Henry Howard is what you're imagining. It's romanticly vintage. I expected a house and buggy to be outside. I image the staff could make that horse and buggy appear if you asked. I have NEVER been to a hotel with such attentive staff. They made our stay even magical. These guys made our wedding...

Grand old building converted to boutique hotel and reasonably priced. Easy access to St Charles street car. Truly friendly and helpful staff. Turn down service included chocolate chip cookies :-) The drawing room brings together other guests and makes for an enjoyable time if you want to have a cocktail in the evening.

Once serving as a family residence , these days Henry Howard Hotel houses visitors to New Orleans. Located on the quiet Prytania Street in the shadows of old trees, the newly renovated villa is fresh, clean and cozy. But best of all is the fabulous staff - friendly and very helpful.

While I usually stay at chain hotels, once I discovered the Henry Howard I knew there would be no better place to stay in New Orleans, and it was the best decision I made the whole trip. Being that it is a converted mansion, it felt almost more like staying at a good friend's (beautiful and huge) house than in...

Later 1800's mansion nicely converted to 18 room hotel. Our room was small but very accommodating and extremely quiet. Staff most helpful and friendly. We preferred the Garden District over staying in the bustling French Quarter. We rode the trolley just a block away all day for $3 each. The ante bellum houses in the area were magnificent.

After having an awful experience at another hotel in New Orleans, the Henry Howard was exactly the respite we needed. The building is incredibly charming, and our room was cozy and well appointed, with a super-comfy bed. We also loved the coffee setup, the adorable go cups, and the heavenly chocolate chip cookies at turndown (in fact, our only complaint...

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
