Stayed here recently and I would not recommend it at all. The staff are lovely people, and it is very close to the street car which is super convenient, sadly that's where the good points end. We stayed in a dorm and it was dirty. The floor was gritty and sticky, the rooms was super hot also. The showers had... More

India house was one of the most unique places I have ever stayed. The staff were nice and they severed breakfast and dinner for cheap which was great, also breakfast is served up until 1pm which was perfect since most people staying will spend there nights on bourbon street. The pool was lovely and was open 12 hours a day... More

Definately the best! It's the only place where I cried for leaving... People are extremly nice, atmosphere is amazing! Meals are also very delicious! Amazing hostel for solo travelers and I cant even imagine to stay any other hostel in New Orleans!

We got a private female dorm wince there were three of us. It was good and simple! Our A/C was really loud and there was a dead roach in the light fixture-but we never saw any other bugs. The hostel was really interesting and cool. We chatted with a few others pretty late at night. Also there's an alligator time... More

With a late check in time this place was first in our stay list. Arrived at 2am surprisingly we weren't the only ones at this time. Our room was in the house beside the reception house which worked in our favour as it was away from the noise. Clean room with showers and toilets close by. Electricity in the room... More

I was passing through NOLA on my way to Texas, and didn't want to pay outrageous prices for a hotel. A friend and I found this place on Hostelworld, and decided to give it a shot. My only regret? I wish I could have stayed longer! The hostel was absolutely charming--everything you expect a backpackers hostel to look like. Cluttered?... More

Will definitely be back here when I come back to New Orleans! It's fairly cheap, and really clean. Staff is super friendly! Beds are clean and comfy, India House contributed to the awesomeness of my trip to New Orleans. It's a big place and have a great lounge (indoors and outdoors) to chill and drink. They also had a pool,... More

I traveled solo. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the place was scurvy. The bathrooms and kitchen eating area had years of scunge baked on and dust in every corner. I actually covered my bed in plastic bags and put my own blanket over that to sleep. They have four refrigerators to keep your food in... but make... More

New Orleans was awesome. Most of that awesomeness was thanks to India House. It's a big place, the staff are really friendly, they have loads of cheap frozen pre-made meals at the ready incase the hunger strikes you. There's a lovely lounge to chill-out and drink, chat and listen to music in near the front of the place. There's a... More

This is a friendly hostel on Canal street based about a 30 second walk from the nearest tram stop (from $1.25 to the city centre). The rooms generally have more people in them than most hostels, but most people are friendly and observe quiet hours, and private rooms are always available. The staff are mostly friendly and will help with... More
